In the month of August 2017 Indian government had announced that it was looking forward to replace its current fleet of cars with electric cars. Hence Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) had invited companies for a bid 10,000 units of all electric car in the sedan category and a maximum range of 120-150Km on a full charge. These electric cars will be used in all the government departments in the Delhi-NCR region.
TATA MOTORS has released a statement in which it states that they have won the bid to supply electric vehicles to Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL). Competing in this bid was Mahindra and Mahindra and Nissan and after the win Tata will be supplying 10,000 units of electric sedan cars.
Tata Motors will be supplying the electric version of the Tigor compact sedan. One car will be costing Rs 11.20 lakhs which also includes GST and TATA will also offer 5 year warranty on each vehicles. These electric cars have to be sent within a period of 12 months and according to a media report 500 units will be delivered within 3 months and the rest 9500 units will be handed over in the period of 9 months.
According to a media report, Tata Motors will be manufacturing this all-electric Tigor at its Sanand plant in which Tiago, Tigor and Nano is being manufactured. To build all electric drivetrains Tata is working very closely and confidently with its European Technical Centre.
