We have been looking at many e-tron concept cars unveiled by Audi at various Motor Shows in the past. But this time at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, Audi has something special in store for us. Audi has revealed the e-tron Prototype which is their first pure electric and also production ready car.
The e-tron by Audi is a five seater electric carry with loads of storage place. Audi has claimed that they have tested this electric SUV in extreme condition across the world on 250 such testing vehicles before revealing it. Powering the electric motors of this car is a 15kW battery which also boosts of a fast charging feature. Audi has revealed anything about the power output of the car but this SUV will surely be equipped with Audi’s signature ‘Quattro’ all-wheel-drive system.
Coming towards the aesthetic of this electric car, the front fascia gets a cascading grille with Audi’s signature four ring badge on it. In addition to this, the e-tron also boosts of a headlight unit like the one on the Q3 and at the rear it gets the single trip LED tail light. Instead of the standard ORVM’s, Audi had offered the e-tron with sleek cameras. As of now Audi has not revealed anything about the interiors. Audi will also be showcasing the e-tron at the upcoming Brussels Motor Show. Also there are many rumours stating the e-tron has a range of 500 kilometres range on a full charge of the battery.
Audi will be launching the production model of the e-tron in the European markets. This launch will take place at the end of the current year 2018. The deliveries of this electric cars will commence from 2019. Once launched the Audi e-tron will compete head on with the Tesla Model X, EQC by Mercedes-Benz and the Jaguar I-Pace.
