Today Ford launched the much awaited Freestyle in the Indian market at a starting price of Rs 5.09 lakh (Ex-Showroom, Delhi). The Ford Freestyle is the new cross hatchback in town and Ford calls it a CUV Compact Urban Vehicle. The Ford Freestyle is based on the Figo with added ride height, body claddings and updated features. With the launch of the Freestyle, Ford has also debuted its new petrol mill and a new transmission.
Ford Freestyle is available in four variants namely: Ambiente, Trend, Titanium and Titanium + and all these four variants gets an option of both petrol and diesel mills. The petrol version of the Ford Freestyle ranges from Rs 5.09 lakh to Rs 6.94 lakh (Ex-showroom, Delhi). On the other hand, the diesel mill Freestyle price ranges from Rs 6.09 lakh to Rs 7.89 lakh (Ex-showroom, Delhi).
Aesthetically, the Ford Freestyle gets new design bumpers on the front and the rear, along with black mesh honeycomb grille and skid plates. On the side, the Freestyle is offered with body claddings all over and black ORVM. On top, the Freestyle gets roof rails that can withhold weight upto 50kg. Customers can also choose from a roof wrap or sporty race stripes which flow from the boot to the roof and to the boot. Ford has offered high ground clearance to the Freestyle (190mm ground clearance) and it also rides on bigger 15 inch alloy wheels. Smoke Grey, Moondust Silver, White Gold, Oxford White and Absolute Black.
Inside the Freestyle gets charcoal black interiors, while the seats come in dual tone colours of sienna and black. The interiors take influence from its elder sibling the Ford EcoSport. In terms of features and technology, the Freestyle gets 6.5 inch touchscreen infotainment system and the top variants gets Ford SYNC 3 which is compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The Fpr Freestyle is up to date with modern features like automatic climate control, automatic headlamps, push button start and rain sensing wipers.
The base trims gets front dual airbags and ABS with EBD as standard safety features, while the top spec trims come equipped with six airbags along with ABS with EBD, traction control anti-rollover prevention system, Hill launch assist and Electronic Stability Program.
Under the hood of the Freestyle is a new 1.2 litre Dragon series, three cylinder petrol mill. With the launch of the Ford Freestyle, Ford has also launched this new petrol engine. This mill generates 96 bhp of power and 120Nm of twist. As mentioned it also comes powered with an optional 1.5 litre TDCi four cylinder diesel engine that produces 100 bhp of power and 215 Nm of torque. Both the petrol and diesel engines are matted with Ford new five speed manual gearbox which has been sourced from Getrag.
