Hyundai is gearing up to launch the AH2/Santro once again in the Indian market. Hyundai is currently conducting a campaign for naming this upcoming hatchback. The official name of this hatchback will be revealed on the 9th of October. The Korean car manufacturer will be launching the Santro/AH2 on the 23rd of October 2018. This upcoming hatchback will first be unveiled during the 1st two weeks of October before its official launch date.
As of now, Hyundai has only revealed some sketches of this hatchback and it is codenamed as AH2. This hatchback will revive the Santro which was discontinued some years ago. Once launched this car will be placed below the Grand i10, hence it will replace the Eon which is currently on sale.
Just like the previously available Santro, the AH2 will get the tall body design. According to the recent cars launched by Hyundai, we can expect that this upcoming hatchback will get some modern features and technology on the inside. In terms of the safety kit, Hyundai will be equipping the AH2/Santro with front dual airbags, ABS with EBD and rear parking sensors as standard among all it’s variants. This will help it stand out from its competition in the Indian market.
Powering this AH2 will be 1.0 litre petrol engine or a 1.1 litre petrol engine. These petrol engines will come matted with a five speed manual gearbox. Also Hyundai is planning to launch the AH2 with an Automated Manual Transmission (AMT). This could then be the first model to get the AMT gearbox from Hyundai stable.
Once launched the Hyundai AH2/Santro will compete against the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R, Maruti Suzuki Celerio and Tata Tiago. As of now it will be difficult to comment on the prices.
