Recently, the Hyundai i20 Active was updated and it was launched at Rs 6.99 lakh (Ex-Showroom, Delhi). With the launch of the Ford Freestyle, the competition of the hatchback crossover in the Indian market has been increased. With the launch of the 2018 Hyundai i20 Active, the Korean auto manufacturer has tried to grip its position in the hatchback crossover segment in the Indian automotive market.
The 2018 Hyundai i20 Active will be available in four different variants namely: Base, S, SX, SX Dual tone. Only the petrol engine will be available in all the variants only the diesel engine will not power the base variant. Aesthetically, the 2018 Hyundai i20 Active is somewhat similar to its predecessor with the silver cuff plate at the front and the round fog lamps placed at both the front and rear bumpers. The dual tone paint scheme will only be available on the top variant SX Dual tone, these paint shades are: blue and white, brown and black and white and black.
Where as on the inside, the Korean auto manufacturer has updated the i20 Active with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system and it also gets new upholstery and body colours accents on the dashboard and seats. The safety features is similar which was available in the previous model. This includes ABS and EBD and front dual airbags as standard in all its variants. It also includes modern features like cruise control, automatic climate control, steering mounted audio controls, clutch lock and reverse parking assist.
Let's pop up the hood and have a look at the engine options, shall we? Well, mechanically the i20 Active is powered with the same petrol and diesel mill option which was available on its predecessor. The petrol power house is a 1.2 litre mill which is coupled with a five speed manual gearbox and it generates 82bhp of power and 114Nm of twist. On the other hand, the diesel power house is 1.4 litre mill which is coupled to the six speed manual gearbox and it produces 89bhp of power and 220Nm of torque.
The i20 Active is a sub four metre crossover like the, Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon and the Ford Eco-sport. But it competes with the Honda WR-V, Ford Freestyle, Toyota Etios Cross and the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross.
