Kia Motors has boot strapped its India operations. Kia has laid down the structural framework of its new manufacturing facility. This manufacturing facility is situated in Anantapur district of the state of Andhra Pradesh. The plant will be spread out in an area of 23 million square feet and it will be able to produce three lakh vehicles annually in its full operation. With this Kia Motors is aiming to produce 3,000 job opportunities.
At the 2018 Auto Expo which was held in the nation's capital, Kia had showcased many cars. But the first car to be rolled out from the this new facility will be the production-spec of the SP Concept SUV. Senior Vice President, Marketing of Kia Motors, Mr Manohar Bhatt has said that the market launch of the production Spec SP concept SUV will be closer to Diwali in the year 2019. He also quoted that the production of this car will begin somewhere around the mid of 2019. Following this SUV, the Korean manufacturer will be launching a hatchback and a sedan.
Kia Motors in partnership with the Andhra Pradesh government will begin the training programme for its 3000 employees. As of now the south Korean auto manufacturer has invested around Rs 7050 crore for the construction of this facility. It will continue to further invest in this site and will aim to create 10,000 jobs by 2021.
Just as we said above that Kia Motors had showcased many cars at the 2018 Auto Expo which was held in this month. But not all cars will make its way to the Indian market. Kia is focusing more to develop a bespoke models for India.
