Mahindra had already confirmed that an AMT version of the KUV100 NXT will arrive sometime late in 2018. Rajan Wadhera, President, Automotive Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra, at the launch of KUV100 NXT confirmed that the company will launch the AMT version of the car within the next six months. The KUV 100 NXT was expected to come with an AMT transmission as the demand for automatic cars have increased and the competition, which includes the likes of Alto K10 and Renault Kwid also come with an AMT transmission.
The AMT unit will be most probably shared unit from the TUV300.The KUV 100 NXT uses a 1.2-litre petrol and diesel mFalcon engine. The diesel makes 77 bhp and 190 Nm of peak torque while the petrol packs 82 bhp and 115 Nm of peak torque. A 5-speed manual does the duty now, which will also be continued along with the new AMT variant.
A KUV100 NXT variant was spied recently with the supposedly oncoming AMT transmission near Mahindra’s plant near Mumbai. The exterior and interiors were more or less identical to the existing model with only minimal changes to the interior, particularly near the gearshift area.
The prices are expected to be in the range of 7-8 lakhs for the top-spec variant of the KUV100 NXT with an AMT transmission. An electric version of the KUV100, which was showcased the Indian Auto Expo will also arrive by 2019.
