After a long time, Mahindra has updated the XUV500. From quiet sometime, the spy shots of the XUV500 facelift have been circulating on the internet. Today Mahindra has launched the facelift of the XUV500 at a starting price of Rs 12.32 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). This price is for the petrol variant while the diesel variant starts from Rs 15.43 lakh (Ex-showroom, Delhi).
While the changes of the facelift XUV500 seem restricted on the outside. There are also changes in terms of the engine and the interiors. Aesthetically, at the front, the new XUV 500 gets larger grille in a studded pattern along with chrome inserts on it. It also gets comes equipped with a halogen and projector combo headlight unit with integrated LED Daytime Running Lights. Moving towards the rear end, the first thing you will notice is that Mahindra has now changed the vertical tail lights to triangular shaped wrap around tail lights and the tailgate has been redesigned. At the side profile there aren't many changes except for the additional chrome stripes to the door sill.
Inside, the cabin is offered with tan-coloured theme with quilted stitches. The dashboard is black and it gets soft touch elements. On the centre console are some aluminium inserts as well on the gear knob and the steering wheel. Mahindra has equipped the new XUV500 with Arkamys sound system and the tweeters are now positioned on the A-pillars. The Bluesense app which was available in the previous model is now upgraded and it is now compatible with smartwatches. The safety packages consists of six airbags , ABS with EBD, hill hold and hill descent control. It also gets ESP with rollover mitigation.
Under the hood of the new XUV500 are the same engines but they are tuned for power and torque upgrades. The 2.2 litre diesel engine is coupled with an optional six-speed manual or automatic transmission and it now generates 155bhp of power and 360Nm of torque, previously it used to generate 140bhp of power and 330Nm of torque. The 2.2 litre petrol engine produces 138bhp of power and 320Nm of twist and it only comes matted with a six-speed automatic gearbox.
