Ignis mynewcar

  • Reports suggest that Maruti Suzuki is working on a facelift for the Ignis hatchback and this will be its first facelift from its launch back.

  • Changes will only be subjected to the exterior design and technology tweaks for the interior, whereas mechanically there won't be any changes.

  • In addition to this, to meet the new safety norms, Maruti Suzuki will also update the safety kit for all the variants of the Ignis.

According to some media reports, we at MyNewCar get to know that Maruti Suzuki is currently working for a facelift for the Ignis. As of now, it is also reported that the Indian car manufacturer has also stopped the production of the current iteration of the Ignis. But the dealerships have yet not been informed to halt the bookings of the same.

Aesthetically, it is expected that Maruti Suzuki India will provide some minor design changes to the exterior. In addition to this, the Indian car manufacturer will also provide some technology updates and minor tweaks inside the cabin. Like we saw in the updated Balenos and the new WagonR, the upcoming facelift of the Ignis will also most likely come equipped with an updated SmartPlay Studio infotainment unit.

In terms of safety features, Maruti Suzuki will equip the upcoming Ignis with ABS, front dual airbags, seatbelt reminder for the driver and front passenger, high speed warning system and reverse parking sensors. These above-mentioned safety features will be available on the all the variants of this hatchback.

When Maruti Suzuki launched the Ignis back in 2017 for the first time in the Indian market, it used to be retailed with a petrol and diesel engine options. Due to the low demand for the diesel engines, Maruti Suzuki decides to discontinue the diesel version in June 2018. As of now, powering the current model Ignis is 1.2 liter, four cylinder petrol mill that is capable of producing 82bhp of power at 6,000 RPM and 113Nm of twist at 4200 RPM. This petrol engine is mated with a five speed manual gearbox and it also comes coupled with an optional five speed AMT unit.

As this will be a facelift for the Ignis, we don't expect changes to happen mechanically. In addition to this, there is still no clarification about the launch of this updated hatchback and in terms of pricing, there will a slight increase in comparison with the current model Ignis. So till then stay tuned to MyNewCar to know more details about the upcoming Ignis facelift.
