Details about Maruti’s all new second generation Ertiga has been revealed. The second gen Ertiga will be showcased at the upcoming 2018 Indonesian Motor Show which will be held in Jakarta.
The upcoming Ertiga is now longer by 99mm and wider by 40mm in comparison with the current generation Ertiga. But the wheelbase of the upcoming Ertiga is similar to the current gen model. So the increase in length and width of the second Gen Ertiga could help increase leg room in all the three rows of this MPV. But the luggage carrying capacity in the new Ertiga is gone down to 153 litres from 185 litres which is available in its predecessor.
Then new Ertiga isn't just increased in terms in length and width, it also gets some styling updates. The front fascia gets a wider nose with longer headlights and a projector unit setup as compared with the current gen model. It also gets a C-shaped bracket at the lower end of the front dumper which holds the front fog lights. Moving towards the side profile, the C-pillar of the new Ertiga looks identical to the one found on the Innova. While at the rear, it gets new design tail lights which helps to give the Ertiga a wider look. The rear end gets a beefed up design and it also comes equipped with a spoiler to give it a sporty look.
Just like all the cars from Maruti, even the New Ertiga will move to their Heartect Platform. This new Heartect Platform is more rigid and has reinforced underbody which helps during a crash for better shock absorption. This new platform will help to keep the Ertiga lighter and stronger and it will help the new Ertiga to deliver better fuel efficiency and performance.
Maruti will power the New Ertiga with a new 1.5 litre petrol mill that generates 104bhp of power and it is matted with a five-speed manual gearbox or an optional five speed automatic gearbox. This new engine could replace the older 1.4 litre petrol engine.
Maruti will be launching the second generation Ertiga in the Indian market during the festive season of Diwali. Stay tuned to MyNewCar to know more about the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Ertiga.
