Skoda Auto has unveiled sketches of Vision RS concept which is a hatchback that is headed for the Paris Auto Show. Two sketches revealing the whole design language was released showing the sleek and slender lines of the upcoming hot hatch.
The RS badging of the car hints another hot hatch addition to the Czech lineup in the near future. The Vision RS is 4356 mm long, 1810 mm wide, and 1431 mm tall, with a wheelbase stretching at 2650 mm. The sketches reveal a five-door hatchback with a sporty stance and a roof-mounted spoiler. The sketches also hint at the use of carbon fibre bits in various parts. The concept also features an oversized wheel and alloy setup which is highly unlikely to make into production. Skoda said that the Rapid replacement will grow to become a Golf rival, the Vision RS will likely grow out to be a rival to the legendary GTi lineup. The concept car is also wider and longer than the Rapid Spaceback which is sold abroad. The car will be built on the MQB A0 platform upon which many VAG models are based upon.
Volkswagen India has already put forward their future plans consisting of a huge investment of 8000 crores by 2021 and the idea of revamping Skoda India's operations with a new plan they remark as 2.0 to increase the combined market share of both brands to 5% from the current 2%. The above-said funds will be set forward to a new product line, dedicated manufacturing line and the localisation of MQB platform. The new Vision RS, if it makes to India, will be the first leg of this plan along with the new upcoming SUV - Vision X.
