Volkswagen has launched the Ameo Pace in the Indian market at Rs 6.10 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Just like the Polo Pace, even the Ameo Pace is also based on its mid-spec Comfort Line Trim. And it also gets some upgrades to the exterior and some technological upgrades along with new smaller petrol engine.
As we said, the Volkswagen Ameo Pace is based on the Comfort Line trims, it will get all the technology and features from that trim. In terms of technology, the Ameo Pace gets additional Cruise Control. While changes on the exterior includes blacked out ORVM’s, new design alloy wheels and a faux carbon fibre spoiler at the rear. Like other models from Volkswagen stable, even the Ameo Pace gets front dual airbags and ABS as a standard safety package.
Under the hood of the Ameo Pace is a 1.0- litre petrol mill that was newly launched in the Polo pace. This new three cylinder 1.0 litre petrol mill generates 75 bhp of power and 95Nm of torque. The new petrol mill is matted with a five-speed manual gearbox. With the introduction of the new 1.0 litre petrol engine, Volkswagen is trying to boost the sale of the Ameo and the Polo. This new engine petrol engine is an replacement for the 1.2 litre engine. On the other hand, the Ameo will be continued to be powered with the same 1.5 litre TDi mill which is coupled with an optional five-speed manual gearbox or a DSG.
With the launch of the Volkswagen Ameo Pace, it will be competing head on with other compact sedans in the India market such as the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Tata Tigor and the Ford Aspire. It will also compete with the upcoming new generation Honda Amaze which is expected to be launched in the month of May 2018.
