Mahindra XUV300 Introduction

Hey guys! So, we have here Mahindra’s all new the baby-XUV XUV300 in petrol. Historically Mahindra has been known for their rugged SUVs. It was about time they enter the Compaq (sub-4 meter) SUV market. 

It may be late to the party, but boy! they have got it right in the first attempt. This machine will give the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford Eco Sport, TATA Nexon and even Hyundai Creta a run for the money.

Mahindra XUV300 Variant

Right here you can see this beautifully crafted High-performance machine. It is available in 4 variants with 2 engine options and 8 color options. Currently, we have the top of the line petrol variant that is the w8 (o) in blue. priced at Rs 13,55,753. 

The basic petrol model starts from Rs 9,23,905 on the road whereas the diesel starts with Rs 10,11,546. Unfortunately, there is no automatic transmission as of now in any variant. Mahindra XUV300 Exterior

  • Mahindra XUV300 Face:

Exterior-Face From the first look, the Compaq SUV looks large and will have a significant road presence. The Mahindra XUV300 follows the design language of her elder sibling XUV500, which is the cheetah design. Xuv300 is based on the Tivoli platform.

On the face of the vehicle, you can see the signature Mahindra grill. It has been studded with chrome. You get projector set-up with LED DRLs, front lamps, halogen fog lamps and front parking sensors all mounted over a sporty bumper. It does look like a smaller version of XUV500

  • Mahindra XUV300 Side:

Exterior-side As you can see the wheels look big enough thanks to the 17-inch alloy wheels and big wheel arches. The bodyside cladding runs throughout the body. Being a sub-4-metre SUV, the Mahindra XUV300 will measure.

  • Mahindra XUV300 Rear:

ExteriorIt has LED combination tail lamps. The rear parking sensors mounted overhear. Anyway, let's open the boot right away. The boot space on offer will be 265 litres, which isn’t great but is adequate for a compact SUV for city and weekend trips. Suitcases. Interior-rearGetting inside and out of the rear seat is very easy. There is a good amount of leg room, sufficient knee room & a good amount of headroom. But the under-thigh support is lacking. Rear seat does come with the armrest with twin cup holder. All the seats do get adjustable headrest. You can see the magazine holder, which may be a bit flimsy.

Door pockets are decent you can actually put a 1-litre bottle in it. We have enough space for 3 passengers. You can always have a comfortable outing with your family and friends. All the rear seats get proper seat belts for your safety. You can also see the airbags placement for rear passengers.

  • Mahindra XUV300 Front:

Interior-FrontIt feels like solidly build the car. With a premium dual tone interior. Quality is not bad. And is one of the safest Compact SUV with 2 airbags standard across all variants. This top of the line has 7 airbags including knee airbags which is the first in its class. The ford eco sport has 6 airbags. The cockpit is comfortable and looks stunning.

Let’s move our attention to the glove box which looks very deep. Meanwhile, there is storage space right above the glove compartment. Both the sun visor comes with a mirror along with it there is an auto-dimming feature for the rear-view mirror.

We get a twin cup holder, also a storage space near the 12V charging station for your mobile phones. Below the front centre, armrest gives you additional storage space you can actually keep a tab inside it which is a nice touch. We also get a steering positioning sensor which tells you if your steering wheel and the wheel is aligned.

  • Mahindra XUV300 Infotainment System:

Infotainment-systemClearly, it’s one of the most feature-packed SUVs that Mahindra has ever produced. We get a 7-inch touch screen infotainment with apple car play, android auto connectivity for your smartphone. It also comes with 3d maps for navigation. It also comes with the eco sense app which tells you about your driving behaviour and you can even share your score on WhatsApp and Twitter to show how efficient driver you are.

The instrument cluster comes with a lot of information, including safety information like terms. XUV 300 comes with segment 1st Dual zone climate control for driver and passenger along with memory function. E.g. wife / friend /kids. The Driving modes can be set to comfort normal and sporty. Comfort- driving/parking, sporty- high speed. You also get voice commanded guided parking camera assistance for ease of parking.

  • Mahindra XUV300 Engine:

Engine Let’s turn on the engine using this push start button. It has no engine noise as compared to the diesel engine. In terms of mechanicals, we have two engine options it comes with 1.2 litre-3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine producing 110 Bhp of power and a class leading 200 Nm torque and this much torque puts it above all competitors.

Mahindra also offers 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine producing 115 Bhp of power and solid 300 Nm of torque. Hence, it outclasses competition in both power and torque. Both engines are offered with 6-speed manual gearboxes with front wheel drive. There is no automatic transmission or 4WD.

  • Mahindra XUV300 Engine:

Let’s turn on the engine using this push start button. It has no engine noise as compared to the diesel engine. XUv300 can reach 0-60 kmph was achieved in about 8 seconds and an acceleration from 0-100 kmph took about 12 seconds. XUV300 is the only car in the segment which features disc brake on all four wheels.

  • Mahindra XUV300 Ride / Handling:

It is a welcome surprise. The Mahindra XUV300 offers a comfortable ride, soaking up all the bumps and undulations with ease. But if the enthusiast and you start attacking corners, you might find a hint of body roll, which is by no means a deal-breaker. The XUV300 has a ground clearance of 180 mm which is more than enough for the car to sail over all bumps and potholes but is less than its competitors.

  • Mahindra XUV300 Fuel efficiency: (On Paper vs Actual)

The manufacturer claims a fuel efficiency of 20kmpl for diesel and 17kmpl for petrol. As we are driving, we can expect 14 -15 kmpl for diesel.

  • Mahindra XUV300 Braking:

Aided with 4-Disc brakes equipped with ABS & EBS, the XUV can break from 60 kmph to stand still in about 15 secs Braking from 100-0 seconds took about 5 seconds.

Verdict:

With the aggressive pricing of the XUV300, Mahindra might just disrupt the segment. XUV300 as compared to its rivals Mahindra XUV is may be more priced higher than Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon and slightly higher than Ford Ecosport.
