Maruti Suzuki has officially unveiled the new S-cross. This crossover gets a facelift and some mechanical changes as well. The 2017 Maruti-Suzuki S-Cross is launched at a starting price of Rs 8.49 lakhs ex-showroom, Delhi and it will be available in four trims- Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha. Whereas the official bookings are open and can be pre-bookd with an amount of Rs 11,000 at all the Nexa dealership outlets in India.

Below we have distinguished the comparison of the new and old S-Cross:

  1. Exterior:

  • OLD:

The old S-cross has similarities of that of the SX4 but with the premium crossover look. The front got big headlamps and a chrome grille. To give the crossover a rugged look, Maruti-Suzuki added elements like roof rails, chiselled bumper and front bash plate. Moving to the side profile, it gets black cladding at the bottom and a simple design alloy wheels. The ground clearance is of 180mm and it isn't as tall as a crossover. The rear gets well sculpted tail lamps and plastic cladding resting above the exhaust.

 

  • NEW:

The 2017S-Cross geta many revisions at the exteriors. The front end gets a new design chrome grille with vertical slanks, new LED projector headlights with LED DRL’s, fog lamps and redesigned dual done front bumper which also house an integrated scuff plate in silver. The side profile is the same as the previous model but it gets a redesigned alloy wheels and the top variant Alpha trim rides on 6 inch alloy wheels. While the rear end comes equipped with a new design LED tail lamps and this crossover will now be available in 5 shades -  Nexa Blue, Caffeine Brown, Granite Grey, Premium Silver and Pearl Arctic White.


 

  1. Interior:

  • OLD:

Entering the old S-cross, Maruti offered it with all black interiors to give it a sporty image. While the top variant used to get modern features like cruise control , automatic headlamps, push button start , touch screen infotainment system, leather seats and reverse parking camera and parking sensors. The boot of this model is not big enough and the space available was around 353 litres.

 

  • NEW:

In comparison with the previous model, the new facelift gets tweaked interiors which includes use of soft materials on the dashboard, new leather fabric seat design and leather wrapped armrest. It gets the modern features like  cruise control , automatic headlamps, push button start , touch screen infotainment system and reverse parking camera and parking sensors from the previous models. In Addition to this, the facelift version gets rain-sensing wipers, automatic climate control and the touch screen infotainment system is compatible now with Android auto and Apple CarPlay.

 

  1. Engine:

  • OLD:

Maruti used to offer the S-Cross with two diesel engines as an option. The first engine was a 1.3-litre turbocharged DDiS 200 which produced a power of 90bhp and a torque of 200Nm. This is the same engine which is also used in the Ciaz and Ertiga. While the second engine was a 1.6-litre turbocharged DDiS 320 which was capable of producing 120bhp of power and 320Nm of torque. The 1.3 litre engine was matted to a 5 speed manual gearbox and the 1.6 litre engine was matted to a 6-speed manual transmission.

  • NEW:

The new facelift of the S-cross will be powered only with one engine option. This is the 1.3 litre DDiS 200 diesel engine which produces 89 bhp of power and 200 Nm of torque. Along with this this engine will be available with a mild hybrid technology. This is same technology which is also used in the Ciaz and Ertiga hybrid. Just like the previous model it will be matted with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
