Renault has launched the Captur, its premium crossover in India. The bookings of the Renault Captur had staetd a month ago and now its has been launched in the Indian market at a starting price of Rs 9.99 lakhs ( ex-showroom, India). Powering the Renault Captur is an optional petrol and diesel engine and it is only available with manual transmission.

In India Renault captur will be competing with the Hyundai Creta, Renault Duster, Nissan terrano and the Maruti-Suzuki S-Cross facelift. Hence we have listed the down its rivals and how it will be competing it in the Indian Market.

Maruti Suzuki S-Cross facelift:

Renault Captur has more features and better engine options when compared with the S-Cross facelift. The only feature that makes its the Captur’s rival is due to the 4 meter length. Powering the S-Cross facelift is only a diesel engine, whereas the Captur comes with an optional petrol and diesel engine. But the main advantage of the S-Cross that Renault has to deal with is the brand image of Maruti in the Indian market and also the connectivity of its service outlets.

Hyundai Creta:

The biggest rival in the compact suv segment for the renault Captur in the Hyundai Creta. Because of the top notch quality premium finish, the Hyundai creta won many hearts in India. Due to which, Renault will have task competing with the Creta. But Renault i also offering more premium features even though it is based on the Renault Duster. In addition to this the captur is better at driving and handling in comparison with the Creta. The only thing lacking by the Renault Captur is the automatic gearbox for both the engine variants. But the power delivered from the Captur is more than that of the Hyundai Creta.

Nissan Terrano:

Nissan is places into family tree in which Renault also is placed. Hence there are many similarities in the models both these companies launch. The Terrano is the soul cousin of the Renault Captur and it also is the twin of the Renault Duster. Despite a good start Nissan Terrano couldn't get hold and place a mark in the Indian market, hence it won't be as much of a competition to the captur. The modern features and premium interiors of the Renault Captur is much more advanced than that of the Nissan Terrano but on the other rand the driveability and handling is same for both the cars.

Renault Duster

Both the Duster and the Captur are twins as they share the same MO platform. It could be explained in a simple way that the Captur is premium version of the Duster. While Renault Duster gets SUV like body lines, but the interiors of the Captur is more advanced and luxurious. It would be a great choice, if you choose the Captur over the Duster, unless and until you're on a tight budget.
