2017 has been an amazing year for the automotive industry. We have seen a lot of launches of new cars and also some teasers of the upcoming cars. The first six months of 2017 has been wonderful with to the Indian market with the launch of HYUNDAI VERNA, SKODA OCTAVIA, SKODA OCTAVIA RS, BALENO RS, MARUTI SUZUKI NEW DZIRE, JEEP COMPASS, TATA HEXA, TATA TIGOR, etc. Time to look at what we have in store for the next 6 months. Well we at Mynewcar are bringing you the top 10 cars to look out at the end of 2017 and the start of 2018.




  1. Hyundai Elite i20 facelift:

The current generation Elite i20 will soon receive a midlife upgrade. This mid life upgrade will include some cosmetic changes into the exteriors and the interiors. It is expected that this hatch back can get a new grille, redesigned front and rear bumpers and a new design alloy wheels. It will be powered with the same  1.2 litre Kappa petrol engine and 1.4 litre CRDi diesel engine, which will be matted to 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox.

Expected month/year of launch: END 2017

Expected price:  Rs 5.7 - 9 Lakhs

Rivals: Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Honda Jazz


  1. Maruti-Suzuki New Swift

Suzuki had given us the glimpse of the third generation Swift in the start of 2017. Maruti is currently testing the new generation Swift for the Indian market. We are expecting the new Swift to be powered by the same 1.2 litre and 1.3 litre petrol and diesel engines. With the new design of the front end, there will be some cosmetic changes in the interiors also with some new modern technologies and safety features. Maruti-Suzuki will be showcasing the New Swift at the 2018 Indian Auto Expo which will be held in the month of February in Delhi.


Expected month/year of launch: February 2018

Expected price:  Rs 4.5 - 7.5 Lakhs

Rivals: Hyundai Grandi10, Honda Brio, Mahindra KUV100


  1. Hyundai New Santro

It has all in the news that Hyundai will be launching a new compact somewhere around the second half of 2018. TK Koo, MD of Hyundai India without disclosing too many details said that, the new car will be bigger than the Santro and will be between the Eon and Grand i10. YK Koo also said that the car will styled to look like a crossover and it will be competing with the Renault Kwid and Datsun Redi-Go.


Expected month/year of launch: Mid 2018

  1. Maruti-Suzuki Ciaz Facelift

The Maruti-Suzuki Ciaz has been in the Indian market for the past 3 years and its about to receive a midlife update. The facelift for this sedan will get some cosmetic changes to the exteriors and interiors. To compete with the new Verna it may get automatic headlamps and rain wipers. Powering the Ciaz will be the same 1.3 litre diesel engine and 1.4 litre petrol but there are some talks going that it may get a new 1.6 litre diesel engine. There won't be must price difference, only the models with 1.6 litre diesel engine may get some price hike. The Ciaz has been shifted into its premium Nexa dealership. The Ciaz facelift will be showcased in the 2018 AutoExpo which will be held in Delhi.

Expected price:  Rs 8.5 - 11.5 Lakhs

Toyota Vios:

Toyota Vios is based on the Corolla platform, this car has been sale in Malaysia and Indonesia. The Vios look similar with the Corolla and it gets the same design grille but with the larger air intake and the side profile gets a sporty look. The interiors get a two tone design with rear AC vents, climate control, 2-din music system and steering mounted controls. Powering the Vios will be the 1.4 litre petrol,  engine and 1.3 litre diesel engine, which can be found in the Etios.


Expected month/year of launch: March 2018

Expected price:  Rs 8-12 Lakhs

Rivals: Hyundai Verna, Honda City, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Skoda Rapid, Volkswagen Vento




  1. Tata Nexon

The Nexon is the most awaited compact SUV from the Tata lineup. Media reports suggests that it will be launched in the month of September, but no official dates have been announced. Tata has opened the pre bookings for the Nexon and we are expecting that Tata Motors will dispatch the first batch of cars in the month end of september. Powering the Nexon will be a 1.2 litre petrol engine which produces 108bhp of power and 170Nm of torque and 1.5 litre diesel engine will chunk out 108bhp of power and 260Nm of torque. These petrol and diesel mills will be matted with a 6-speed manual gearbox and we can expect automatic gearbox in the coming months.

  1. Renault Captur

The Kaptur from Renault will the new crossover which has spawned off from the Duster platform. We expect the Kaptur to be powered with a 1.5 litre dCi turbocharged diesel engine and a 1.6 litre petrol engine. It may also be matted with a 5 or 6 speed manual gearbox. We are also expecting this crossover come with a AWD system.In India the Kaptur will be competing with the Maruti-Suzuki S-cross, hyundai Creta. The Renault Kaptur is expected to hit the Indian market by mid-2017 at a price range of Rs  8 lakh to 14 Lakh.

  1. Ford Eco-Sport Facelift

Ford plans to give its best selling EcoSport a facelift. The facelift version of the EcoSport gets aggressive looks which includes a  bigger grille, muscular bumpers and re-profiled tail-lamps. Along with this it also gets new alloy wheels which enhances the looks of the side profile of this compact suv. Mechanically there will not be much changes in the EcoSport facelift and will be powered with the same 1.5 L Ti-VCT Petrol, 1.0 L EcoBoost Petrol and 1.5 L TDCi Diesel engines. The expected launch of the vehicle is around in the month of OCtober 2017 and it is expected at a price between Rs 6.75 Lakh – Rs 10.5 Lakh

  1. Maruti-Suzuki S-cross Facelift:

Maruti-Suzuki is updating their fleets and the S-Cross will also be going under the knife. This will be the mid-life update for the S-cross. It was the first subcompact crossover in the Nexa dealerships. The midlife update will come with some cosmetic changes to the interiors and exteriors. These updates will include cruise control, power mirrors, height adjustable driver seat, LED DRLs integrated in the projector head lamp unit, all black interiors, automatic climate control, etc. This crossover will be powered with a  1.3 litre and 1.6 litre diesel engine, as of now there is no reports for a petrol engine for the Indian market. We are expected the S-cross facelift to be launched in somewhere around the end of 2017 with an estimated price of  8-10 lakhs.

  1. Jeep Renegade:

Jeep is the only company which continued the production of SUV’s even after the world war. The Renegade will be one of the upcoming cars from Jeeps lineup to be launched in India. It is expected to hit the Indian market somewhere around the month of January 2018. Jeep Renegade will be the small, fun loving and affordable 4x4 SUV from the Jeep’s stable. In India we expect the Renegade to be powered with two multi-jet turbo diesel engines- 1.6 litre and 2 litre. Jeep Renegade will be competing with the BMW X1, Mini Countryman and the Mercedes-Benz GLA in India.


Expected month/year of launch: January 2018

Expected price:  Rs 25 - 30 Lakhs

Rivals: BMW X1, Mini Countryman, Mercedes-Benz GLA
