The year 2017 has almost come to end and it has been an amazing year for the automobile industry with many car launches and facelifts. Now that 2018 is about to start and many car buyers and car enthusiasts are eager to know what's in package for 2018. Hence we have brought to you the upcoming hatchback cars to be launched in India.

 

  • Volkswagen Polo 2018:

Volkswagen India launched the Polo in the Indian market back in the year 2010, which caused a revolution in the premium hatchback segment. Recently Volkswagen launched the 2018 Polo and it made its global debut in Berlin. We are expecting the 2018 Polo to be launched at the Mid of 2018 in the Indian market. The design resembles its elder sibling the VW Golf which get sharp creases and sporty lines. The new polo will most likely be powered by the same 1.2 litre petrol engine and 1.5 litre diesel engine but it could get some power and torque tweaks.

 

Expected month/year of launch: Feb 2018

Expected price:  Rs  8 - 12 Lakhs


 

  • Maruti-Suzuki Celerio X:

Maruti recently a facelift for the Celerio with some minor cosmetic changes. Along with this, they were many spy pictures of the Celerio X. It is the cross variant of the Celerio which gets many exterior cosmetic changes to give it a tuff and ruff look and keeping in mind of off-roading it will also get an increased ground clearance. The interiors will be the same, just that the seat and the interior theme will be tweaked to give it a distinctive look. Powering the Celerio X will be the same 1.0 litre petrol engine which is able to produce 67 bhp of power and 90Nm of torque and it will be coupled to a 5-speed manual gearbox or AMT transmission.

 

Expected month/year of launch: END 2017

Expected price:  Rs 5 - 6 Lakhs


 

  • Hyundai Elite i20 facelift:

The current generation Elite i20 will soon receive a mid-life upgrade. This mid-life upgrade will include some cosmetic changes into the exteriors and the interiors. It is expected that this hatchback can get a new grille, redesigned front and rear bumpers and a new design alloy wheels. It will be powered by the same  1.2 litre Kappa petrol engine and 1.4 litre CRDi diesel engine, which will be mated to 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox.

 

Expected month/year of launch: END 2017

Expected price:  Rs 5.7 - 9 Lakhs


 

  • Maruti-Suzuki Swift 2018

Suzuki had given us the glimpse of the third generation Swift at the start of 2017. Maruti is currently testing the new generation Swift for the Indian market. We are expecting the new Swift to be powered by the same 1.2 litre and 1.3 litre petrol and diesel engines. With the new design of the front end, there will be some cosmetic changes in the interiors also with some new modern technologies and safety features. Maruti-Suzuki will be showcasing the New Swift at the 2018 Indian Auto Expo which will be held in the month of February in Delhi.

 

Expected month/year of launch: February 2018

Expected price:  Rs 4.5 - 7.5 Lakhs


 

  • Datsun Go Cross:

As the SUV and crossover segments are booming in the Indian market, many car manufacturers are also making the hatchbacks available with cross variants. Just like the upcoming CelerioX there are rumours that Datsun will soon launch the GoCross in the Indian market. The GOCross was first showcased at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show and also at the 2016 Indian Auto Expo. it will get beefed up body kit and increase in ground clearance. We are expecting Datsun to power the GoCross with a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine and there are rumours that it could also get a 1.5 litre diesel engine.

Expected price:  Rs 4.5 - 6.5 Lakhs
