September 2019 new car sales.

Buying a car is an important decision to make. Most of the times it involves your entire family and in some cases, even the entire family’s income. Hence doing a through research on which car to buy is equally important. Going with the public opinion, forums and reviews from real time users can help us effectively make a decision. When it comes to Indian family, comfort, good mileage, performance and better pricing are the priorities when it comes to buying a car. Hence, the most popular cars in Indian market are usually the product of through research, word of mouth and experience.

Market research is “quantitative and qualitative research of a respective market”. And hence knowing where the current market stands does not only help you while making a decision regarding cars but also with the current market scenarios and helps you with the future investments. A market research for cars is published every month that gives a brief idea of the customer mindset to the manufacturers and sellers. Not just that, it also tells the consumer where the population is putting their trust at.

The market research for September 2019 showed surprising numbers that not only showed the increase in sales but also proved that the automobile market slowdown was just temporary. The studies show that the maruti Dzire was placed at the topmost with 15,662 units sold for 2019. Following that comes the crowd favorite maruti with a total of 15,079 units. After that maruti swift with 12,934 units and  wagonr at 11,752. Maruti has done pretty well yet again compared to other manufacturers. Even with the outstanding sales, maruti has dropped its sale by 26.5, 30.6, 41.8 and 11.3 percent for dzire, alto, swift and wagon R respectively. With baleno and brezza following these 4, the overall sales of maruti cars show a percentage drop in sales.

The, Hyundai elite i20 was placed next with 18.1 reduction in sales. For the utility vehicles section, maruti has still done a pretty good job with increase in sales for all of its cars. Followed by i10, creta, amaze and even innova with a decrease.

The utility and suv has done pretty well even with the automobile slowdown. The slowdown was most likely caused due to the NBFC crisis and the BS6 issue. But with the rise in sales it proved that the slowdown due to NBFC crisis was internal and hence only temporary.

For the most part, maruti Suzuki has been and will be one of the biggest auto manufacturers in india. What is worthy to note is that despite the slowdown, brands like kia and MG has done pretty well surpassing the older players in the market. The total market share of these 2 brands is even higher with just one model of the brand being introduced in the market so far. These 2 brands are expected to do pretty well in coming years as more car models are scheduled to be launched soon.

For the daily commutes in urban and industrial areas, hatchbacks and sedans are a more popular choice. At the same time, the rural area prefers entry level hatch as well as MUV/SUV. The distribution of sales of the most popular body type of a car is based on terms of yearly sales. The most popular type being a hatch at 45%, followed by suvs at 25% and MUV and sedan at 15% and 15% respectively.

For month to month sales the most popular cars from every brand for august 2019 are as follows

Even though innova has seen a surprising decline it is still one of the best cars in SUV/MUV section. The market has seen a good growth after last few months and is expected to get better as the time passes. The entire revenue of kia and MG is based on only one of its cars, seltos and hector respectively. The car models are doing really well despite entering the market at a very low point. The revenue generated by these 2 companies are pretty high and it can be safely said that these are one of the toughest competitors in the Indian automotive market.
