The Trending Stuff About The All New Tata Hexa 2019 Edition

After being awaited in great anticipation, Hexa was launched in January 2017. The poor response for Aria-the predecessor of Hexa did not demotivate Tata Motors. Instead, it ignited them to bring out an impressive product that is leaps and bounds above Aria.

Hexa is the flagship product of Tata Motors, and as one would expect – it offers a lot. Hexa cannot be called as a revolutionary product, given the fact that it utilises Aria’s platform but the new Impact Design philosophy is sufficient enough to differentiate it from Aria.

Hexa’s styling is also an indication of what to expect in upcoming Tata cars. In this detailed review, we look at the features, performance, exterior and interior, pros and cons of Hexa, and based on all these parameters, we give you a verdict to assist in your purchase.

The base variant XE is slightly less powered than the other variants. Hexa’s performance is impressive, given it’s a bulky car. The performance from the VARICOR engine, that also powers the Safari Storme is satisfying. The NVH levels are quite low for a powerful engine of this kind. Turbo-lag is hardly an issue.

Tata Hexa Engine

Tata Hexa EngineTata Hexa is available in two engine configurations: a 2.2L VARICOR 320 4-cylinder diesel engine producing 110.32 KW (150 PS) @ 4000 RPM and 320 Nm torque @ 1500-3000 RPM.

This engine powers the base XE variant. The other engine option is 2.2L VARICOR 400 4-cylinder diesel engine producing 114.73 KW (156 PS) @ 4000 RPM and 400 Nm torque @ 1750-2500 RPM. This engine powers the XM/XMA, XM+ and XT/XTA/XT4X4 variants.

Tata Hexa Transmission

Tata Hexa Exterior

Hexa is the flagship product of Tata Motors and Tata has done a great job in providing a bold and muscular design language to the Hexa. The car has been designed very aggressively making many people think that it’s an SUV.

The design of Hexa is in contrast to the contemporary styling of the other cars in this comparison. Tata Hexa’s IMPACT design philosophy brings together various design elements to create an immediate impact on first sight and a lasting impression over time.

The 19” alloy wheels, first in segment give the Hexa an imposing stance to match the overall SUV appearance. From Tata’s signature piano-finish black honeycomb grille bordered by humanity line on the bottom to the chrome-finish slat at the rear and the wraparound horizontal taillamps, twin exhaust chrome-finish pipes, smoked projector lamps and striking DRLs, everything appears perfect at its place.

Tata Hexa Interior

Hexa’s all black interiors might not appeal to everyone tastes especially in India, where the beige interiors are associated with a feeling of premiumness. Fit and finish of the interiors is top notch.

In comparison to other cars in this segment, the interiors might look less premium to some. Instead of faux wood inserts, Hexa’s interiors get smoked and darkened chrome as well as brushed aluminium inserts.

The door pads have leather inserts and feel very premium. Expect comfortable journeys with perforated leather seats that provide extremely good support. Ingress and egress from the third-row seat are fairly easy.

The infotainment system comprises of a 5” touchscreen with multi-coloured TFT display, and a 10-speaker JBL music system from Harman, apart from the other standard features.

Tata Hexa Pros & Cons

  • Solid build quality & significant road presence.

  • Great styling, the emphasis has been given to provide SUVish look.

  • Excellent performance

  • Great ride quality, can conquer all sorts of the road with ease.

  • Some important features such as Auto-Dimming IRVM, Keyless entry and steering reach adjustment are missing

  • All black interiors, not to everyone’s taste

  • Steering wheel quite heavy, even at lower speeds.

  • Turning radius is more than other cars in the competition.

A beast of a machine, Hexa is one of the finest cars from the stable of Tata Motors. A muscular styling, premium interiors, top-notch safety and excellent features make Hexa a tempting buy.

While there are certain cons, but they are noticeably lesser as compared to the pros. While the Aria received a poor response from the market, Hexa is a fresh product and is definitely here to stay.

Talking of the competition, there are primarily two main rivals: Innova Crysta is a great product, but with an exorbitant price tag and the customers have a special liking for the XUV 500.

The Hexa will definitely keep those interested who are in search of a spacious and comfortable 6/7-seater. Hexa is truly a great car for any adventurous family.
