Recently, Hyundai added 2 more variants to its collection, the SX+ AT petrol and SX(O) AT diesel, both of which have an automatic gearbox. Hyundai also offers a special anniversary edition of the Verna. The limited edition model is offered with only a new colour, a few additional features and subtle cosmetic enhancements.
When it comes to features, Verna has automatic projector headlamps with LED daytime running lights (DRL's), electric sunroof, automatic climate control, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, ventilated front seats, rear parking camera with sensors and dynamic guidelines with cruise control. The safety features include dual front airbags, ABS, front seatbelts and ISOFIX child seat anchors as standard across the range. The top variant gets four additional airbags over standard once.
Verna consists of four engine options and 7 colours The 1.4-litre petrol engine produces 100PS power and 132Nm of torque, while the 1.6-litre petrol engine churns out 123PS and 151Nm. The new 2017 honda city gets a new and bold look with revised styling, a new top-of-the-line ZX variant, more equipment and tweaks to improve the NVH. Currently, Honda is offering its 20th-anniversary edition of the City, which is priced at Rs 13.80 lakh for petrol and 13.92 lakh for diesel.
The new changes that come with the car include bigger chrome grille with the thick chrome strip running all across it, bigger and muscular bumper and 16-inch alloy wheels. The inside features include 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation and parking camera, electric sunroof, cruise control, automatic climate control, rear parking camera, auto dimming IRVM, rain-sensing wipers, automatic LED headlamps and push-button start and much more. In terms of safety, the new Honda city has dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and ISOFIX child seat anchors as standard across its range. The top-spec ZX variant gets six airbags.
When it comes to engine, the new city has 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol and 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine. The petrol engine produces 119PS/145Nm and comes with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a CVT automatic gearbox. The diesel engine produces 100PS/200Nm and is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. The City has a claimed mileage of 17.4kmpl for petrol and 25.6kmpl for diesel. The petrol CVT provides a fuel economy of 18kmpl.
After Verna and Honda city, Ciaz from Maruti is one of the most popular choices in Indian market when it comes to a sedan. The Ciaz was first introduced in 2014 but the new 2018 version gets a stronger engine than its predecessor. With a new look and additional safety features, the new Ciaz stands at Rs 8.19 lakhs and Rs 10.97 lakhs. It is available in four variants namely, Sigma (base), Delta, Zeta and Alpha (top).
The 2018 Ciaz facelift has auto LED headlamps, LED fog lamps, taillamps with LED inserts and cruise control, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, auto climate control, passive keyless entry system with push-button and leather upholstery in terms of features. When it comes to safety, the Ciaz 2018 gets dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and ISOFIX child seat anchors, speed alert system (SAS) and seatbelt reminder (SBR) as standard across its range.
The new Ciaz facelift is also powered by a new 1.5-litre petrol engine and carries forward the existing 1.3-litre diesel motor too. The new K15 petrol engine has a power of 105PS and 138Nm of torque, while the diesel engine produces 90PS and 200Nm of torque. The inclusion of the new 15-inch ‘Matone’ alloy wheels and chrome moulding on the deck lid and door handles with chrome eyelash blending in with LED daytime running lights gives it a more dramatic look. The Skoda Rapid comes in three variants namely, Active, Ambition and Style and are priced between Rs 7.99 lakh to Rs 13.73 lakh (ex-showroom India). Skoda also has an ‘Edition’ model of the Rapid, which is priced from Rs 10.99 lakh to Rs 13.97 lakh (ex-showroom India).
On the feature front, the new Skoda has LED DRL's, front fog lamps, electrically adjustable and foldable orvms, automatic climate control, push-button start, auto dimming IRVM, tilt and telescopic steering, height adjustable driver seat, and a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system.in the safety front, it has dual front airbags and ABS with EBD as standard. The top-spec variant comes with side airbags as well. The AMT variants of the Rapid come with electronic stability control (diesel only) and hill hold control.
When it comes to engine, Skoda has a 1.5-litre TDI diesel and a 1.6-litre MPI petrol engine. The diesel motor has a power output of 110PS and 250Nm torque while the petrol engine has 105PS power and 153Nm of torque. Both the engines come with a 5-speed MT or a dual-clutch automatic. The petrol gets a 6-speed auto box while the diesel comes with a 7-speed DSG.
The new sedan from Toyota comes with a 6- speed manual transmission and a 7 step CVT automatic gearbox. Since it resembles a lot to Etios in terms of engine, the new powerful 1496cc engine produces 105bhp of power (17bhp more than in the Etios) with higher torque. Only available in petrol fuel option, this sedan has 6 colours to its collection.
When it comes to features Toyota never disappoints. The 4 variants come loaded with features starting from the most standard j variant which has keyless entry, projector headlamps, driver seat height adjust, music system, 60:40 split folding rear seat and projector headlamps. Starting at rs.6.94 lakhs, this is the only sedan car below 7 lakhs available in this list.
The Vento shows off Volkswagen's patented design with a front grille with triple chrome slats, front air dam and front fog lamps with integrated cornering lights. The also has the old layout of the taillights albeit with revised internals, a thin chrome strip on the boot lid and a restyled rear bumper with chrome inserts and reflectors. Priced between 8.38-14.03lakhs, the popular sedan from Volkswagen is available in petrol and diesel fuel options available in three engine options, a 105PS 1.2L TSI petrol, a 105PS 1.6L MPI petrol and a 110PS 1.5L TDI diesel, the petrol engines come mated to a 7-speed DSG gearbox(1.2l) and a 5-speed manual gearbox(1.6l). The 1.5L TDI comes in with both the transmission options.
The Vento is the most powerful cars in its segment, The 1.2L TSI engine claims a fuel economy of 18.19kmpl, while the 1.6L MPI has 16.09 kmpl. The 1.5L diesel engine is the most convenient as its fuel economy figures stand at 22.27kmpl for 7-speed DSG and 22.15kmpl with the 5-speed manual transmission.

The single RS variant sedan from Skoda comes with a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine with 230PS and 350Nm torque and is mated 6-speed DSG (dual-clutch auto) and stands at 24.62l. The other 3 variants: Ambition, Style and Style Plus, Ranges from 16l to upto 27l. This sedan comes with three engine options, a 1.4-litre petrol, a 1.8-litre petrol engine and a 2.0-litre diesel. The 1.4-litre petrol engine comes paired with a 6-speed manual transmission with 150ps power, while the bigger petrol engine comes with a 7-speed DSG with 180ps.

This premium sedan from Mercedes ranges from 31.4lakhs to 75.2 lakhs. The new update includes a redesigned front bumper, new LED headlamps, restyled tail lamps, more chrome and angular exhaust tips. It comes in 2l petrol and 2.2l diesel engine. The automatic version gives a mileage of 15.04kmpl for petrol and 7.9kmpl for diesel. The new update cla 45 facelift is a 2.0-litre, turbo-petrol engine that pumps out 381PS of power 475Nm of torque with seven-speed, dual-clutch transmission.
Styling wise, it has 18-inch blacked-out alloy wheels, decals on the lower half of the doors, a rear diffuser and a quad-exhaust configuration. The new ‘aero’ edition also comes with some commercial tweaks.
The new and improved corolla altis gets new features including new LED headlamps with daytime running lamps and new LED cluster tail lamps, tweaked exterior looks and a shorter variant list than its predecessors which consists of four petrol and two diesel variants.
