The wait is over Hyundai launches the next generation verna in india and the price for the midsize sedan starts from Rs 7.99 lakhs ( ex-showroom, Delhi). As compared to the last model the 5th gen Verna is loaded  with new and unique features which were not used in its segment. These ensures that this sedan will be fighting for the throne in the mid size sedan segment, which is currently dominated by Honda City and the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.

Exterior:

The new gen verna is based on the K2 platform and if you look at the sedan you will notice that it has taken inspiration from its elder sibling Hyundai Elantra. The front side of the 5th generation verna gets the all new swept back projector headlamps with LED DRL, corner lights and projector fog lamps for better illumination. Between the front headlights we can notice the Hyundai’s signature cascading chrome front grille which gives the new verna a sportier look. Coming to the rear end of the car you will first notice the all new split type LED Tail lamps with LED guides which gives the car a premium look. The 2017 Verna also gets R15/R16 diamond cut alloy wheels  which enhances the looks of the mid-size sedan.

Hyundai is offering the new gen verna with 7 colour options- Polar white, Sleek Silver, Star Dust, Sienna Brown, Flame orange, Fiery Red and Phantom Black.

Interiors:

As we enter the 2017 Verna we can see that the car has dual tone interiors which gives it a premium look, the steering wheel gets audio and bluetooth controls as well as cruise control and MID control. To increase the comfort of the driver, Hyundai is offering front ventilated seats, Seat Height Adjuster, Sliding Front Center Console Armrest and the Korean manufacturer has also used it patented Eco Coating Technology. This new technology helps prevents unpleasant smell to develop in the AC Evaporator and this is done by degrading the bad bacteria developed in the AC Coils.

The mid size sedan also gets Smart Electric Sunroof which prevents the roof from closing completely if there is any obstruction in between. The rear passengers need not worry, Hyundai is taken care of you guys also as it offers Rear Seat Adjustable Headrest and Rear Curtain.

 

Safety features and equipments:

The new verna is equipped with many modern technologies like the 7-inch touchscreen system that offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity options. The top-end variant of the new gen verna gets is equipped with  on-board navigation, cooling glove box and cooled front seats. While the rear passengers gets air-con vents and a USB charging port. The outstanding features which Hyundai offers in the new Verna are electrically operated sunroof, hands-free boot opening function and rear parking sensors with camera.

Hyundai has concentrated alot on safety by offering ABS and dual airbags are standard across all the variants and the top-end variant gets 6 airbags. The other safety features which will be included are Driver Power Window Pinch Guard, Headlamp Escort Function and cornering headlamps.

 

Engine Specifications:

Under the hood of the new verna are two engines -  1.6-litre petrol and a 1.6-litre diesel. The 1.6 litre petrol produces 121bhp of power and 151Nm of torque while the 1.6 diesel engine chunks out 126 bhp of power and 260Nm of torque. Both of the petrol and diesel engine ar coupled with a 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox.
