The homegrown carmaker Mahindra has launched its micro SUV, KUV100 at Rs. 4.42 lac (ex-showroom, Pune). The diesel base K2 variant is priced at Rs 5.22 lac while the top of the line K8 model is priced at Rs 6.76 lac. The bookings for the KUV100 had already started a couple of weeks back with down payment of Rs 10,000 and until now over 50,000 inquires have been made by the customers. Though there is no direct competitor for KUV100 but it still will compete against the likes of Hyundai Grand i10, Maruti Suzuki Swift and Ford Figo.
The SUV looks cool and trendy from outside and practical from inside. It boasts features like three seater front row, standard ABS and EBD across all variants and dual-front airbags as an optional feature. Among many other, there are also floor storage in 2nd row and co-driver seat, cooled glove box and sunglass holder, gear indicator, puddle lamp and an illuminated key ring. The infotainment system is a 6-speaker unit with Bluetooth, Hands-Free, USB, DIS and AUX connectivity.
Under the hood, the compact SUV is powered by brand new three-cylinder petrol and diesel engines. The petrol engine is the mFalcon G80 1.2-liter unit. The engine produces 82 bhp @ 5,500 rpm and 115 Nm of peak torque in between 3500-3600 rpm. While the diesel mill is the mFalcon D75 1.2-liter turbo diesel. The engine generates 77 bhp @ 3750 rpm and 190 Nm of max torque between 1750-2250 rpm.
