Maruti Suzuki has finally launched its most awaiting car of the year, the Vitara Brezza at Rs 6.99 lac (Ex-Showroom, Delhi). This is Maruti’s first sub-4 meter compact SUV for the Indian car market which has been developed over a period of 5 years. In pricing, the Vitara Brezza undercuts its main rivals as it has achieved 98% of localization level. The automaker has introduced a total of four variants, namely LDI, VDI, ZDI and ZDI+. Since its a sub-4 meter compact SUV, it thus lock horns with Ford EcoSport, Mahindra TUV300, upcoming Tata Nexon and to some extent to Hyundai Creta.
On the exterior front, the compact SUV flaunts a floating roof-like design and Maruti will also offer contrast roof colors on the top-end ZDi+ variant. Continuing the SUV theme, designers have given the sub-4m SUV skid plates at the front and rear and cladding over the wheel arches and side running boards. Dimension wise, the Vitara Brezza measures 3,995 mm in length, 1,790 mm in width, 1,640 mm in height and 2,500 mm in wheelbase. It offers a ground clearance of 198 mm and boot space of 328 liters. The top-end variant is equipped with projector headlights, LED daytime running lights, integrated turn signals on the wing mirrors, rear wiper and washer and a chrome garnish for the registration plate enclosure.
Inside the cabin, Vitara Brezza is offered with standard features like audio system with Bluetooth, manual air-conditioner, tilt-adjustable steering wheel, parcel tray, driver airbag, speed sensitive door locks, twin pod headlamps with turn indicators, etc. The top-end variant of the Maruti Vitara Brezza, ZDi+, will be offered with with SmartPlay Infotainment system with CarPlay, cooled glovebox, engine start-stop button, reverse parking camera, cruise control, keyless entry, navigation with MapCare app, dual-tone dashboard and few others.
Under the hood, Vitara Brezza is initially offered with diesel powertrain. It’s the same that does duty in Ciaz and Ertiga. The 1.3-litre DDiS mill gives an output of 90PS (88.8bhp) and peak torque of 200Nm. As of now, the Maruti has only offered 5-speed manual gearbox, but rumour has it, that the AMT variant will soon be launched and the same can be said for petrol model. The ARAI certified fuel economy is 24.3kmpl, which is best in class.
On safety front, the SUV comes equipped with dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear defogger, reverse parking camera with sensors, automatic headlights, automatic wiper.
