Mercedes-Benz today, rolled out three products – S500, S63 AMG, and the G63 AMG Crazy Colour Edition. While the S500 is the coupe version of the S-Class, the S63 AMG is the performance-oriented model of the S500 Coupe. This is the first time in the history of Mercedes-Benz India that it has launched three products in a single day.
Powering the S500 coupe is a 4.7-litre, twin-turbo, V8 engine that churns out a maximum power output of 453bhp and a peak torque of 700Nm. This is the same engine that powers the S500 saloon. The Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG, on the other hand, derives its power from a 5.5-litre, twin-turbo, V8 unit that, mated to a 7-speed AMG Speedshift gearbox, produces a whooping 577bhp and 900Nm.
The S63 AMG has been made available in both the RWD (rear-wheel drive) and 4MATIC all-wheel drive systems. While the RWD model of the car accelerates to 100kmph in 4.2 seconds, the AWD model takes 3.9 seconds to touch the 100kmph mark from standstill. The S63 AMG has an electronically limited top-speed of 250km/h.Though the overall design of both the S500 coupe and S63 AMG look similar, the latter one looks sportier and more aggressive with the AMG body kit and carbon-fibre interior trim.
The Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG that is already on sale in the country, has also received new exterior paint shades. Named the G63 AMG ‘Crazy Colour Edition’, this special model has now been made available in 5 never-seen-before paint schemes – Solar Beam, Sunset Beam, and Alien Green.
