Tata Motors officially launches the 2018 Tiago NRG in the Indian market. The Tiago BRG is available in both the petrol and diesel version. Prices for the Petrol variant starts at Rs 5.5 lakh (Ex-Showroom, Delhi), while the diesel variant starts from Rs 6.3 lakh (Ex-Showroom, Delhi).
The Tiago NRG is a cross hatchback just like the Hyundai i20 Active, Maruti Suzuki Celerio X, Ford Freestyle, etc. This is Tata Motors first cross hatchback to roll out of its stable. With this, Tata has now made the Tiago more attractive and capable of taking on the roads in India.
Tiago NRG is based on the standard Tiago XZ trim, and it gets many cosmetic changes at the front its comes with an all black grille, cladding on the front bumper which also holds a faux skid plate. As we move to the side, we can see that, this model gets square wheel arches and black colour body cladding running all over it. The Tiago NRG runs on four spoke, 14 inch DurAlloy wheels. At the rear, it get similar black body cladding on the bumpers and it also holds the faux skid plate at the rear as well.
Taking a step in, we notice that interiors are now more attractive. It gets dual tone upholstery which is not seen on the standard model. It also gets all the modern features and technology which is available on the top end trim level which includes reverse parking sensors, cooled glove box and steering mounted audio controls. The Tiago NRG comes equipped with eight speakers surround system which is powered by Harman.
The safety kit provided by Tata Motors on the Tiago NRG includes, dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, Corner stability control, Reverse parking assist and driver seat belt reminders. There aren't any mechanical changes offered for the Tiag NRG. It continues to be powered with the same 1.2 litre Revotron 1199cc 3 cylinder petrol engine that produces 85 PS of power and 114Nm of twist. Similarly it gets the same 1 litre Revotorq, 3 cylinder diesel mill that generates 70PS of power and 140Nm of torque. Speaking about the transmission, both the petrol and diesel mills come matted with a five speed manual transmission. As of now the Tiago NRG doesn't get the AMT gearbox but it can be expected to be launched in the coming months.
Tata Motors has provided the Tiago NRG in three paint schemes- Fuji White, Canyon Orange and Malabar Silver. In comparison with the standard Tiago XZ trim, the Tiago NRG is dearer by Rs 15,000. With the launch of this model, Tata Motors aims to further increase their sales.
