Volkswagen updates its current lineup of the hatchback and compact sedan in India with the launch of new Sports Edition for the Polo, Ameo and the Vento. The German auto manufacturer has launched the new Sports Edition of the Polo at Rs 6.93 lakh (Ex-Showroom, India) and the Ameo Sports Edition at Rs 8.30 lakh (Ex-Showroom, India).
In the month of March VW had launched the Vento Sport and it is priced at Rs 10.70 lakh (Ex-Showroom, India). This new edition is launched to brand cash the 2018 FIFA World Cup which will be held in a few days. Just like the Vento Sport, the new Polo and Ameo Sports Edition is based on their top spec variants respectively.
Aesthetically, the design is similar to the normal Polo and Ameo, but the Sports Edition model gets blacked out roof, faux carbon fibre finish of the ORVMs, blacked out rear spoiler and it also gets Sport decals on the door.
Mechanically, there are no changes on the Sports Edition Polo and Ameo. Powering the Polo and the Ameo is 1.0 litre three cylinder petrol engine which has been recently replaced from by the 1.2 litre petrol engine. While the Vento is powered with a 1.6 litre petrol engine for its manual trims and the automatic trim gets the 1.2 litre petrol engine. On the other hand, all the three models share the same 1.5 litre diesel motor but the Ameo and Vento gets a powerful tune with an automatic transmission in comparison with the Polo. Both the Polo and Ameo gets the Sports Edition model for the manual and automatic trim, but the Vento only gets the Sports trim for its automatic variants.
