November was an important month for the Indian automotive market especially with the festival lights Diwali. As this was an auspicious month for many Indians, and an important month for the automotive manufacturers, we saw many car launches. Mahindra Alturas G4
After a lot of teasers and much waiting, Mahindra has finally launched the Mahindra Alturas in the India market. Mahindra has offered the new Alturas at a price tag starting from Rs 26.95 lakh (Ex-Showroom, India) and it is available in two variants. In the international market, this product is known as the fourth generation of the Rexton.
So what does it take apart from the international model Rexton? Aesthetically, the New Alturas is offered with Mahindra ’s signature tooth grille at the front and some other little bits. The side profile gets squared wheel arches which help to gel along with the beefed-up road presence of this SUV. In addition to this, the new Alturas runs on 18-inch alloy wheels. At the rear. Neatly designed tail lamp unit, a spoiler on the roof and nicely sculpted rear bumper.
Stepping in, we get to know that Mahindra has offered the Alturas with plush upmarket materials. The dashboard hosts am eight-inch touchscreen infotainment unit and giving the cabin that plush look is the high quality quilted leather upholstery. In terms of modern features, Mahindra has equipped the Alturas with an eight-way adjustable driver's seat along with memory functions, 350- degree camera, ventilated seats, dual zone climate control for utmost comfort, ISOFIX and TPMS.
Mahindra powers both the variants of the Alturas with a 2.2-litre diesel engine. This Diesel mill is capable of producing 185 bhp of power and 420Nm of twist, thus giving its rivals such as the Ford Endeavour and the Fortuner a tough competition. The Alturas although gets only a single engine option but does get an option between a 4X2 and 4X4 variant. The 2.2 litre diesel engine from Mahindra will be mated with a seven speed automatic gearbox that has been sourced from Mercedes-Benz.

Maruti Suzuki 2018 Ertiga
Some months ago, Suzuki had showcased the new generation Ertiga for the Indonesian market. It was supposed to be launched in the Indian market start of November 2018, but then it had been postponed. After a long wait, Maruti has finally launched the 2018 Ertiga in India at a starting price of Rs 7.44 lakh (Ex-Showroom, India). The New Maruti Ertiga has been introduced in 10 trim levels- Petrol: LXi, VXi/VXi AT, ZXi/ZXi AT and ZXi+ Diesel: LDi, VDi, ZDi and ZDi+.
Maruti is now offering the New Ertiga with a new colour scheme, Namely Pearl Metallic Auburn Red. This new Ertiga is now based on the Heartect Platform which is also shared with the Baleno, New Swift and the Dzire. If we compare the 2018 Ertiga with its predecessor, we get to know that this new MPV is now bigger and more spacious. Although the wheelbase is similar to the previous model it now runs on a new design 15-inch alloy wheel. According to Maruti, the new Ertiga is now strong with its rigid construction and the performance has also been improved.
Aesthetically, the styling of the Ertiga is now bold with upmarket features. At the front, Maruti has offered this MPV with a new grille and besides it is a pair of sleek headlamp units that consists of a projector unit and LED Daytime Running Lights. Also, the bumpers upfront gets new stylish elements and the fog lamps get a contrasting black background around it. Moving towards the side profile one can notice the floating roof design which is similar to the new Swift. At the rear, it gets an L-shaped tail light unit that is integrated into the D-pillar.
On the inside, the cabin also gets an upmarket touch with a dual tone beige and black finish and it also gets wooden inserts which run on the dash. In addition to this, the dashboard now holds a 6.8-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with many of the connectivity elements from the Swift and the Baleno. Maruti has given the new Ertiga with a sporty touch by adding a flat bottom steering wheel.
Under the hood of the new Ertiga is an all new K15 petrol mill which was debuted with the launch of the new updated Ciaz. This new petrol mill is capable of generating 103 bhp of power and 138Nm of torque. Also, this MPV comes powered with a 1.3-litre DDiS diesel unit that produces 90 bhp of power and 200Nm of twist. Both the engines come coupled with a five speed manual gearbox. Customers looking out for an automatic transmission can also choose for a four speed automatic transfer case.
The new Ertiga competes with the Honda BR-V, Mahindra Marazzo and the Toyota Innova Crysta in the Indian market. With the new styling and roomy interiors, the New Ertiga gets a new plush finish. Skoda Kodiaq L&K
Some time ago, Skoda had taken the Indian automotive market by a storm with the launch of the Kodiaq. Now, Skoda has launched a new trim level for the same. This new variant is known as Kodiaq Laurin and Klement or Kodiaq L&K. Skoda has launched this new trim for their flagship SUV at Rs 35.99 lakh (Ex-Showroom, India).
This launch now makes the Kodiaq L&K the new top of the line variant which comes equipped with additional features. To go on with the list, Skoda has equipped the Kodiaq L&K with 360 degree camera for easy parking assistance and also gets automatic parking assist with it. For added safety, Skoda offers this new variant with the all new Anti-Theft alarm with interior monitoring feature. It also gets an acoustic warning signal for overspeeding, float code system for the engine immobiliser, dual tone warning horn, defogger for the exterior mirror and rear windscreen, protective cover for the underbody and a package for rough roads. The Kodiaq L&K can now detect signs of driver fatigue and it also gets Adaptive Front Light System.
The Kodiaq L&K is the only model from Skoda to get two display screens. It also features a virtual cockpit that gets an LCD display for the instrument cluster. This display can be customised for different functions that include navigation and regular dials. The touchscreen infotainment unit gets digital voice enhancer and other features that have been carried over from the base model.
Powering the Kodiaq L&K is the same 2.0 litre turbocharged four cylinder diesel engine that is seen on the regular Kodiaq. This diesel mill from Skoda produces 148bhp of power and 340 Nm of twist. All the power and torque generated are transferred to the four wheels via the all-wheel drive unit from the seven speed automatic gearbox.
The Kodiaq is the only SUV in the Indian market in its segment to be offered with nine airbags. With the newly added features and modern technology, Skoda aims to increase the sales for their flagship SUV.
Mahindra Scorpio S9:
Mahindra now offers its most popular SUV, the Scorpio with a new trim level. This new variant is known as the S9 trim and it is launched at Rs 13.99 lakh (Ex-showroom, Delhi). If we compare the Scorpio S7 variant with the new S9 trim, it is pricier by Rs 50,000.
The Indian car manufacturer has offered the new S9 trim with new added modern technology. This includes an automatic climate control unit, a touchscreen display unit is compatible with navigation and it also comes fitted with LED light guides.
Mahindra has launched a new one-below-the-top S9 trim of their popular SUV, the Scorpio, at a price tag of Rs 13.99 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi. The S9 is just Rs 50,000 pricier over the S7 and gets the 140bhp setup along with automatic climate control, touchscreen display with navigation, electrically operated wing mirrors with LED indicators and the LED light guides.
Scorpio’s new S9 trim level sits in between the S7 and S11 variant. But for utmost comfort, the S9 Scorpio comes equipped with cruise control, steering mounted audio controls, 15-inch touchscreen infotainment with voice assist and GPS navigation as standard. Safety features include front dual airbags, ABS, anti-theft warning and engine immobiliser.
In terms of mechanical feature, Mahindra doesn't provide the S9 with all wheel drive unit and it also misses out on an automatic gearbox. But the 2.2-litre mHAWK turbocharged diesel engine that it runs on produces 140 horsepower and 320Nm of twist. This engine is coupled with a six-speed manual gearbox and it also gets Mahindra micro-hybrid technology.
