New Cars Launched in the Month of February 2019

The month of February has been very exciting for the Indian automotive scene. Here we have seen the introduction of a new supercar along with the new introduction of the most competitive segment- Compact SUV. in addition to this we also see the come back of the historic Monte Carlo Edition of Skoda and the updates to the SUV segment as well. With the month now coming to an end, let's have look at the glimpse of this car that has been launched.

Lamborghini Huracan Evo

In the Indian automotive market, Lamborghini has launched the all-new Huracan Evo and it is being retailed at a price tag of Rs 3.73 crore (Ex-Showroom, India).

This is the latest iteration of the baby Lambo and it gets a bit of performance spec from the Performance whereas the tech is borrowed from the Aventador, also if we step into the cockpit of this beast, you will notice that it gets a touchscreen infotainment unit which is seen for the first time in the Huracan.

Powering the Huracan Evo is the same 5.2-litre V10, naturally aspirated engine which also powers the Huracan Performance. This powerhouse also gets titanium intake valves along with a lightweight exhaust system.

The 5.2-litre unit is capable of churning out 640 bhp of power along with 600 Nm of twist. In terms of performance, the Lamborghini Huracan Evo can sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in just 2.9 seconds and it can reach up to a top speed on 325 kmph.

That all for the performance, in term of styling and aesthetics, the Huracan Evo gets a newly designed front splitter with integrated wings in it. Giving the Huracan aggressive and good looks are the Ypsilon designed air intakes. Moving towards the rear end, the twin exhaust tips are larger but gives the hint of the Performance.

Also at the rear, we can see that the engine cover gets a new design, whereas the diffusers at the rear geta duck lip spoiler. Lamborghini has provided the Huracan Evo with 20-inch Aesir Y-spoke alloy wheels.

Moving into the cabin of the Huracan Evo, we first get a glimpse of the cockpit like the styling. Above the signature start button from Lambo, now sits the 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment unit which gets smartphone integration, voice command and built-in navigation. For the added luxury, its cabin gets a dedicated Evo trim in Alcantara along with Arancio Dryope detailing on the leather.

With the launch of the Huracan Evo at R 3.72 crore, it is a bit cheaper than the Performance. Now, this bull will lock hits horns with the  Ferrari 488, Audi R8, Maserati GranTurismo, Mercedes-Benz AMG GT and the Porsche 911.

2019 Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo edition

The Czech automotive manufacturer, Skoda has once again brought back its signature Monte Carlo edition in the Indian market with the launch of the  2019 Rapid Monte Carlo Edition.

Skoda is retailing this new edition Rapid at a price tag of Rs 11.16 lakh (Ex-Showroom, India). With this, the 2019 Rapid Monte Carlo Edition will only be available in a paint scheme of Red and it will also get some cosmetic updates on the exterior and interior as well as some feature updates.

Aesthetically as we have a look at the exterior design, we get to know that the Monte Carlo Edition of the Rapid has many cosmetic updates in comparison with the standard Rapid. These cosmetic updates include a completely blacked out grille on the front along with quartz cut projector headlight unit which gets some hints of chrome and LED Daytime Running Lights (DRL’s).

Moving towards the side profile, Skoda has added a gloss black finish on the ORVM’s along with gloss black finish on the B-Pillars that also gets the MONTE CARLO flag. At the rear, the Rapid Monte Carlo Edition also gets black spoiler mounted on the tailgate and a black-grained sporty diffuser. In addition to this, it also runs on  16-inch clubber alloy wheels that also gets glossy black bolt covers on it

As we step into the cabin, we first notice that Skoda has featured a sporty three-spoke flat-bottom multifunctional steering wheel which is wrapped in all black perforated leather. The centre console gets a piano black finish with a hint of chrome around it, whereas the seat upholstery gets black leatherette along with grey stripes and red finish. For the sporty look, Skoda has also added stainless steel foot pedals along with scuff plates that have the inscription of MONTE  CARLO on it.

In terms of modern features and technology, the Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo Edition comes loaded with a 6.5-inch colour touchscreen central infotainment system that is compatible with SmartLink technology

Moreover, the vehicle is available with ribbed stainless steel foot pedals and scuff plates with the 'MONTE CARLO' inscription. The Rapid Monte Carlo gets a 6.5-inch colour touchscreen central infotainment system with SmartLink technology, rain sensing wipers,  Climatronic air conditioning technology for utmost comfort, a multifunctional display and height and length adjustable steering wheel. For the long highway runs it also gets Cruise Control.

Powering the Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo edition is the same petrol and diesel engines that also power the standard Rapid. The diesel model is powered with a 1.5-litre TDI unit that produces 110bhp of power and 250Nm of torque. On the other hand, the petrol model is powered with a 1.6-litre MPI unit that generates 105bhp and 153Nm of torque.

Mahindra XUV300


After much waiting, Mahindra has finally launched a new compact SUV in the Indian market. This compact SUV is the XUV 300 which has been introduced at a starting price of Rs 7.90 lakh (Ex-Showroom, India). Mahindra has provided the XUV 300 in four different trim levels and the prices for it goes up to Rs 11.99 lakh (Ex-Showroom India).

Mahindra has developed the newly launched XUV 300 based on the Ssangyong Tivoli, but the XUV 300 is a bit shortened if we compare it to the Tivoli. This has been done to an advantage of the sub-four-metre tax benefits that have been bestowed in the Indian market. Customers can choose from six different paint schemes. The design of the  XUV300 is inspired by the Cheetah and gets a very aggressive but sophisticated look.

The Indian car manufacturer has introduced first in segment features such as dual-zone climate control with memory functions, seven airbags and steering modes. These first in segment features will only be available on the top end W8 (O) trim level.

In addition to this, Mahindra has also brought in an electric sunroof, Cruise Control and seven-inch touchscreen infotainment unit that is compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. In terms of safety, the Mahindra XUV 300 comes equipped with standard safety features such as front dual airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat mounts and disc brakes for all the four wheels.

Mahindra is offering the XUV300 with both and petrol and diesel engine options to choose from. The petrol model is powered with a 1.2-litre turbocharged unit that churns out 110 bhp of power and 200 Nm of twist.

On the other hand, the diesel model is powered with a 1.5litre unit that produces 115 bhp of power and 300Nm of torque. Both the petrol and diesel mills are matted with a six-speed manual gearbox. As of now, there is no automatic transmission, but according to some reports it suggests that Mahindra is working on an AMT unit that will be introduced in the next planned update.

With this, the Mahindra had brought a wonderful product in the competitive Compact SUV segment in the Indian market. The XUV 300 now competes with the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Creta, Honda WR-V, the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and the Ford Eco Sport.

2019 Ford Endeavour

As we mentioned earlier in your news of the week article, Ford has now launched the 2019 iteration of the Endeavour in the Indian market. The 2019 Ford Endeavour now is priced at a starting price of Rs 28.19 lakh (Ex-Showroom, India).

The new Endeavour is now available in three trim levels and comes in both manual and automatic transmission. In comparison with the model launched back in 2016, the 2019 Endeavour doesn't get some minor cosmetic tweaks and some added modern features and technology.

As mentioned above, Ford now offers the endeavour in only three trim levels, the entry-level Trend variant has now been discontinued. Hence it will only be available in the Titanium and Titanium + across the two engine options. Aesthetically, upfront the SUC gets redesigned grille with horizontal louvres and some dash of chrome.

The front bumper also gets some mil tweaks and the headlight unit now gets a smoky effect. As we move towards the side profile, we can notice that the new Endeavour now runs on newly designed 18-inch alloy wheels.

At the rear, the tail light unit gets some tweaks with some LED inserts. In addition to this, Ford has now also brought in one new paint scheme- Diffused Silver and with this, it replaces the Smoke Grey paint scheme which was available in the older model.

That all for the cosmetic tweaks, in terms of features and modern tech, Ford has equipped the 2019 Endeavour with an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment unit that gets Ford’s SYNC3 system new leather upholstery.

The top trim levels get a panoramic sunroof, electrically powered eight-way adjustable driver's seat, power folding third-row seat, semi-auto parallel park assist, front parking sensors etc. the safety kit, on the other hand, is also upgraded with the addition of six airbags in all the variants, ABS with EBD, hill start assist and stability assist.

Ford is providing the 2019 Endeavour with two diesel engine options. The 2.2 litres four-cylinder unit produces 158 bhp of power and 385 Nm of torque and it comes coupled with a six speed manual and six-speed automatic gearbox along with a 4X2 configuration.

On the other, the top trim level is powered with a 3.2-litre unit that churns out 197 bhp of power and 470 Nm of twist. This diesel unit is coupled with only a six-speed automatic gearbox and it only comes with a 4X4 configuration as standard.
