New cars launched in the month of March 2019
As we enter the month of March the number of cars that were launched are although less, but what we see is that there a lot of new exciting products introduced in the Indian market.
Here what we see is that there is a comeback of a much-awaited sedan, also we see that a hot hatch has been upgraded both in terms of cosmetics and mechanical upgrades. Whereas we also see that a new sporty sedan has been launched along with an exclusive luxury sedan for some beloved customers.
2019 Ford Figo
Ford launched the 2019 iteration of its hot hatch, the Figo in the Indian market at a starting price of Rs 5.15 lakh (Ex-Showroom, Delhi). The Figo has been on sale for almost four years and the new iteration is the mid-life update given for this B-Segment hatchback.
So what has Ford offered the Figo in this new iteration? This hot hatch gets some cosmetic changes on the exterior along with new added technology and features. In addition to this, the trim levels for the 2019 Figo have been rejigged and it also gets some mechanical changes as well.
Coming to the aesthetics, on the exterior the changes offered are very limited. These include a revamped bumper both on the front and the rear. On the front fascia, the fog lamps are garnished with chrome bezels which are also seen on the Aspire. In addition to this, the front grille is also redesigned. Looking at the top spec BLU Trim, it gets some blue accents around the fog lamps and it also gets some additional sporty decals on the side profile and on the tailgate.
With the new update for the Figo, it gets some new splash of colour option which includes dual-tone paint schemes and it will now run newly designed multi-spoke alloy wheels.
Stepping in, the 2019 Figo gets all black interior but the overall layout has been redesigned. The dashboard holds a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment unit which has been sourced from the EcoSport and the Freestyle. Apparently, this infotainment unit misses out on Ford's SYNC3 tech.
In terms of the safety kit, Ford now features front dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, seat belt warning system for both driver and passenger and child ISOFIX anchor points as common in all its variants. These safety features mentioned above will be mandatory in all vehicles produced from the 1st of June 2019.
The top of the trim level- Titanium BLU model gets modern features and technology like rain sensing wipers, auto headlamps, automatic climate control, leather-wrapped steering wheel, a big 15-inch alloy wheels and it gets additional six airbags.
As mentioned above, the 2019 Figo now gets a new 1.2-litre petrol mill under its hood from its Dragon Family. This is the same engine which also powers the updated Aspire and it generates 95bhp of power and 120Nm of torque.
On the other hand, the diesel model is powered with the same 1.5-litre unit that produces 99 bhp is power and 215Nm of twist. Both the engines mentioned above are coupled with a five-speed manual transmission.
If you're looking in for an automatic option, it is only available on the 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol mill which also powers the EcoSport and this powertrain is capable of churning out 121 bhp of power and the automatic unit is a six-speed torque converter.
With the launch of the 2019 Ford Figo, this premium hatchback continues to compete more efficiently with other hot hatches such as the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Volkswagen Polo and the Hyundai i20. Variant wise price breakup has been mentioned below:

2019 Honda Civic
Honda launches its most awaited sedan back in the Indian market once again. Yes, we are talking about the 2019 Honda Civic which is the 10th generation model that has been launched at a starting price of Rs 17.69 lakh (Ex-Showroom, India).
This comeback of this sporty sedan has been done after a long five years. Unlike before, the new Civic now comes in both petrol and diesel engine options.
Aesthetically, the front fascia is inspired by Honda's new design language. It also gets the all-LED headlamp unit along with LED fog lamps that get some aggressive chrome garnish.
Moving towards the side profile, the new Civic gets strong shoulder lines and it runs on large alloy wheels as well. In addition to this, unlike the previous model, the new Civic gets better ground clearance.
On the inside, the cabin gets a modern touch to it and it also gets the brown and black finish. The centre console gets hints of silver plastic all over it. The top trim levels of the Civic come equipped with a fully digital instrument cluster, 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment unit that is compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and electrically adjustable driver's seat.
In terms of safety, Honda offers the new Civic with six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, parking sensors, speed alert warning systems, driver and passenger seat belt warning system, Lane Switch Function and ISOFIX child seat anchor points as common.
As mentioned above, now the 2019 Honda Civic comes available with a diesel engine option. This diesel model is powered with a 1.6-litre unit that churns out 118 bhp of power and 300Nm of twist. On the other hand, the petrol model is powered with a 1.8-litre unit that generates 140 bhp of power and 174Nm of torque. So only the petrol mill is coupled with a CVT unit only whereas the diesel model is only available in a six-speed manual gearbox.
With Honda now re-launching the 2019 Civic back in the Indian market, it will lock its horn with the Hyundai Elantra, Skoda Octavia and the Toyota Corolla. BMW 530i M Sport
BMW has now updated and expanded it 5 series lineup with the launch of the sporty 530i M Sport model in the Indian market. This new sporty variant has been launched at Rs 59.20 lakh (Ex-Showroom, India). BMW has loaded the 530i M Sport with loads of technology and an under the hood is a powerful petrol mill.
Aesthetically, the 530i M Sport gets BMW's signature kidney grille on the front with gloss black trims pieces over it. Overall the design of this sporty design is very aggressive thanks to large air intakes on the front, the rear apron which had a diffuser-style which is splashed in metallic Black and the side skirts trims over the side profile.
At the rear, it gets chrome's tailpipes and this beast runs on 18-inch M design alloy wheels with M sport brakes and blue callipers that bears the M logo, which further enhances its sporty look.
On the inside, the 530i M Sport gets leather sport seats and the cabin is also complimented with aluminium trim pieces along with chrome highlights all over. Just like the exclusive luxurious and sporty interiors, even the key is designed with the iconic M strip. The most appealing thing is the M leather steering wheels that give you a firm and sporty feel and it also gets illuminated M door sills.
Looking into the technology, this sporty sedan comes equipped with BMW Display Key which allows the drivers to keep in contact with the car all time long. In addition to this, it also gets gesture control, wireless charging, remote control parking and a surround view camera.
Coming to the main part, the beast under the hood. Powering this 530i M Sport is a two-litre four-cylinder petrol mill which produces a massive 252 bhp of power and 350Nm of twist. This helps the sedan to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 6.2 seconds. And thanks to the quick shifting eight-speed automatic transmission the drive is much smoother and punchy.
With the new M Sport package now available for the 530i, it will attract many more enthusiasts. What's interesting is that this sporty sedan will be produced locally at BMW's Chennai facility and the engine is also compliant with upcoming BS-VI emission norms. Now the BMW 530i M Sport will compete against the Audio RS5 and the Mercedes Benz with the AMG package.
Skoda Octavia Corporate Edition
On the exterior, Skoda has provided the Octavia Corporate Edition with 16-inch Velorum alloy wheels and it also gets a pair of aggressive design LED Daytime Running Lights (DRL's). Whereas the cabin features dual tone interiors along with beige upholstery.
It also comes equipped with a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment unit which is compatible with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and Mirror Link. For utmost comfort, Skoda has also provided this edition of the Octavia with dual zone climate control.
Under the hood of the Octavia Corporate Edition is the 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol mill which produces 148 bhp of power and 250Nm of twist. Also, it is available in a diesel model that is powered with a 2.0-litre unit which generates 141 bhp of power and 320Nm of torque.
In terms of the safety kit, Skoda features this edition of the Octavia with loads of features which includes ABS with EBD and Brake Assist, Anti Slip Regulation, Motor Speed Regulation, Electronic Differential Lock, Electronic Stability Control and Multi-Collision Braking.
