Czech manufacturer Skoda launched the Skoda Superb Sportline in India at Rs 28.99 lakh. The Sportline is a special edition variant available with both the petrol and diesel engines.

The new Sportline variant slots in behind the range-topping Laurin and Klement version (L&K). The changes are purely limited to the exteriors and interiors with no changes to the mechanicals whatsoever. The exteriors, now sport a Red paint finish along with the standard White and Grey shades. The roof is finished in a glossy black contrast shade as is the grille, wing mirrors and the boot spoiler. The cosmetic changes are a welcome, as it uplifts the car’s luxury credentials to a sporty image. The headlamps and tail-lamps also get a black shaded theme. The 17” alloy wheels are different from the standard version with a black-grey approach.

The interiors also see changes in the form of an all-black cabin with highlighted red accents. The cabin theme shares some resemblance with the Octavia VRS with its colour scheme and sports seats clad in Alcantara. The steering is a flat-bottom unit with paddle-shifters. Skoda is also offering LED interior ambient lighting and an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Mirrorlink, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility and a three-zone automatic climate control system. Safety features are similar to the top-spec variant with six airbags, ABS with ESC and EBD, hill-hold control and hill-brake assist, traction control, electronic front differential, front and rear parking sensors and a rear-view camera. The 1.8-litre, four-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine produces 180hp and 250Nm of torque mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic unit. The diesel is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo motor that produces 177hp and 350Nm of peak torque paired with a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission. The diesel is a frugal motor with a claimed efficiency figure of 18.88 kmpl.

The Superb Sportline is priced at Rs 28.99 lakh for the petrol model and Rs 31.49 lakh for the diesel, which makes it cheaper than the top-spec variant with all the essential bells and whistles. The car can be shortly booked through MyNewCar India with a booking amount of Rs 11,000.
