Tata Motors has taken the wraps off the updated Tigor in the Indian market. This new model of the Tata Tigor has priced at Rs 5.20 lakh (Ex-Showroom, Delhi). This compact sedan is now available in five trim levels for the petrol version and four variants for the diesel model and it will all be available in six different paint schemes.
Tata Motors has offered a mid-life update to the New Tata Tigor and these updates come in form of some cosmetic updates to both the interior and exterior and some features updates as well. At the front, this compact sedan now gets a new design grille and twin projector units that also gets some chrome inserts. As we move towards the side profile we can see that it runs on a set of new design 15-inch alloy wheels and it now also get foldable ORVM’s with integrated LED turn signals while at the rear it gets new tail lamp unit with Clear Lens.
On the inside, the first thing to notice is the touchscreen infotainment system that has been updated to a 7.0-inch unit which is compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The interior gets black and grey theme and titanium flaux leather upholstery. In addition t this, it also gets an arm rest at the rear with cup holders for all the variants, height adjustable driver seat and automatic climate control.
In terms of the safety kit, al the variants now get front dual airbags as standard. On the other hand, ABS with EBD and stability control is only available of the XZ and XZ+ trims.
Under the hood of the New Tata Tigor are the same petrol and diesel mills to choose from. The petrol model is powered with a 1.2-litre Revotron, three-cylinder unit that generates 84 bhp of power and 114Nm of torque. Whereas the diesel model is powered with a 1.05 litre, three-cylinder, a turbocharged unit that generates 69 bhp of power and 140Nm of twist. Only the petrol mill gets an option for a five-speed AMT unit, while both the petrol and diesel units come coupled with a five-speed manual as standard.
Segment wise the Tata Tigor competes head on with the Honda Amaze, New Ford Aspire, Volkswagen Ameo and Hyundai Xcent but price list wise it also gives good competition to the Maruti Suzuki Swift and the Hyundai Grand i10.
