Due to the cancellation of the Geneva motor show due to the pandemic, Toyota was ready to delay the launch of its new crossover derived by Yaris. But Toyota finally decided to unveil the car on an online platform a few days ago.

Appearances
The car is positioned below C-HR but carries the same wheelbase that measures 2560mm. The longer overhang makes the car 240mm longer with a total length of 4180mm. The width measures 1765mm with a height measuring 1560mm.
Toyota has gone with the conventional design with this one which is a much better option since the quirky styling of C-HR did not make much difference. The car is larger than that of Yaris but still is a bit smaller than C-HR. Even though the car is smaller, Toyota promises user comfort with roomier sitting. The crossover comes with a 40:20:40 split-fold rear seats with belts to secure the objects further. The car will be first out on sale in Japan followed by Europe in 2021.

Engine
The car comes accompanied with an all-new hybrid system and the TNGA platform (GA-B) for compact cars. The Yaris Cross will be powered by a 3-cylinder, 1.5-liter petrol engine mated to an electric motor, converting it to a hybrid system. The engine produces a total of 116 ps of power and will come mated to an option between 6-speed manual and a direct-shift CVT automatic transmission along with a dedicated Front-Wheel-Drive mode. The car also is offered in AWD (Electric Four Wheel Drive) configuration. The FWD trim claims a co2 emission rating of less than 120g/km and the AWD claims lesser than 135 g/km of CO2.
