2021 Honda City Hybrid India Launch, Mileage, Price Updates
2021 Honda City Hybrid to Launch in India next year at around Rs 15 - 18 lakhs with claimed Mileage of 27 kmpl - Check Latest Updates
Honda launched the new City a few months back and it came with the same set of engines though the 1.5l petrol was new. That said it still comes with 1.5l petrol and the diesel with no turbo petrol though other markets get that. In terms of its rivals, the Verna from Hyundai offers more with the turbo petrol while so does the Volkswagen Vento and the Skoda Rapid. Also currently the Maruti Ciaz is the only one that offers a mild hybrid system though it is not a proper hybrid. With diesel being preferred lesser and lesser plus petrol being the fuel of choice, a hybrid brings in the advantage of efficiency and also refinement benefits.
New Honda City Hybrid Specifications and Mileage Update
Now the Thailand market has got the proper hybrid City sedan and that is ringing a possibility of that coming to India. Called as e:HEV the City Hybrid is a proper hybrid and not a smart hybrid. It gets a 106 bhp/253Nm electric motor plus a 96 bhp and 127Nm 1.5l petrol. It also no longer gets a usual gearbox with an e-CVT. As a result, it is faster with a 0-100 km/h time of 9.9 seconds but more importantly, the mileage figure is a lot more at 27.8 km per litre. That easily would make it the most efficient petrol car in India and would be a huge plus for the car. It also gets a new instrument cluster and steering paddles which adjust the regenerative braking plus it has rear disc brakes too. The hybrid gets a new Obsidian Blue Pearl paint scheme.
New Honda City Hybrid India Launch Update
India launch is a question of whether Honda can assemble and localize the City hybrid in order to make it fit to launch here. Honda earlier launched the Civic hybrid which did not sell so this time Honda will have to reduce the price in order to sell it at a price that people will buy. We expect a price of around Rs 15 to 18 lakh taking into account the hybrid is Rs 3 lakh more expensive over the top-end petrol City at nearly 15 lakh.
