This week has been very busy for the Indian auto industry as it started with the positive sales news for July as finally sales have been starting to take off. Elsewhere Maruti launched its petrol version of the S-Cross then later Kia showed its Sonet compact SUV. More on that and all of the other top events of this week below.
Nissan Magnite interior reveal
Nissan started the week with its reveal of the interior for the upcoming Magnite compact SUV. The interior shows the premium look with multiple surfaces and red accents all over. The interior too has black upholstery with red accents.
July Auto sales
July saw the auto industry going back to its usual numbers after the low June and zero April sales. The July sales in total have been actually only marginally less than the 2019 sales with July 2020 sales being 1,97,523. Read more here.
Maruti S-Cross petrol launch
Maruti finally launched the petrol version of the S-Cross at a price of Rs 8.39 lakh. The S-Cross gets the 1.5l petrol with both manual as well as automatic options. Read more here.

Toyota Urban Cruiser name
Toyota announced the confirmation of its new compact SUV being called as the Urban Cruiser. It has also confirmed that it will launch the car during the festive season. Read more here
Mahindra Thar reveal
Mahindra finally put in some information about the new Thar and when it would be revealed. The good news is that the new Thar would be revealed on the 15th of August which is our Independence day. Read more here.
Toyota Fortuner TRD
Toyota also launched a special edition of its Fortuner TRD which has styling changes plus a sportier interior. There is also a long list of accessories given in terms of new features. Read more here.
Tata Nexon EV subscription
Tata has made buying the Nexon EV easier as it is now available with a subscription. Yes, the new Nexon EV gets a subscription offer to be available in five cities to start with. There is a 50k deposit and the user has to pay Rs 48,000 to Rs 42,000 depending on the month plan. Users can also buy the outright or return it earlier than its 18month period with some charges.
Kia Sonet World Premiere
Easily the biggest news of the week was from Kia Motors which revealed its compact SUV Sonet. It would be launched later and it has shown as a world-wide reveal. Delhi Govt EV policy
Delhi government has brought out an EV policy to boost EV sales. The aim is to register 5 lakh EV by 2024 and also setting the infrastructure with 200 new stations. There are several incentives like up-to Rs 1.5 lakh for EVs.
