With another month passing by and the Indian market opening up, the sales in the automotive sector have started to gain traction at a good pace. New cars have been launched in the last month and they have also received good response and love. As of now, Maruti Suzuki continues to dominate the Indian automotive sector with the highest number of sales for October 2020. Top 10 Car Brands in India

In October 2020, Maruti Suzuki sold 1.63 lakh cars in the Indian market which makes it one of Maruti’s highest sales as compared to the past few years. When compared to October 2019, the Indian car manufacturer managed to sell around 1.39 lakh cars hence we see a sales growth by 17.6%. With this, Maruti Suzuki continues to hold a constant market share of 49% in the Indian market as compared to last year.
For October 2020, Hyundai Motors has sold over 56,605 units as compared to 50,010 units which were sold in October 2019. With this Hyundai has seen a growth in sales by 13.2% and it holds a market share of 17%, which was around 17.06% last year.
3. Tata Motors
With many revamps in Tata Motor’s stable, the Indian automotive manufacturer has sold 23,600 cars in October 2020 as compared to 13,169 cars sold in the same month last year. With this, Tata Motors has seen a growth in sales by 79.2% and it has also helped to increase its market share to 7.1%, which was around 4.6% last year.
4. KIA Motors
Although Kia Motors is a new entrant in the Indian automotive sector, it feels like they have been here for many years. Kia Motors has sold over 21,021 units in October 2020 which has seen a good growth by 63.5% as compared to 12,854 units sold in October 2019. With this, Kia Motors has managed to increase its market share from 4.5% to 6.3%.
In October 2020, Mahindra has sold over 18,318 cars as compared to 17,914 cars sold in October 2019. This shows that Mahindra has increased its sales figures by just 2.3%. With this, Mahindra’s overall market shares in the Indian market has fallen from 6.3% to 5.5%.
Last month, Toyota managed to sell around 12,373 cars in the Indian market. This shows that the sales figures have gone up by 4.4% as compared to the 11,848 cars sold last year in the same month. Toyota’s market share in the Indian market has seen a slight decline from 4.2% to 3.7% as compared to the stats from last year.
Renault has sold about 11,005 cars in October 2020 in the nation. With this, there is a fall in sales figures by 4.4% as they have sold over 11,516 units the same month last year. Although there is a dip in sales, Renault has managed to bag the 7th position in the overall car sales figures. But its market share has seen a drop by 0.8% as they go from 4.1% to 3.3% as compared to the stats from 2019.
For October 2020, Honda has sold about 10,836 cars in the Indian market as compared to 10,010 cars sold in October 2019. With this, the sales figures have gone up by 8.3% but there is a dip in market share by 0.3% as compared to last year.
In October 2020, Ford has managed to sell around 7084 cars in the Indian market. As compared to the same month last year, Ford has seen an increase in sales figure by 1% as they sold last year they sold over 7017 cars. With this, Ford’s market share in the Indian market has been 2.5% to 2.1% with a slight decline by 0.3%.
10. MG Motors
In the Indian line-up, now MG Motors has over 4 cars and they have managed to sell around 3750 cars in the last month. As compared to October 2019 they had a sales record of 3536 cars which shows that the sales figures have been increased by 6.1%. The market share of MG Motors on the other hand has seen a slight decline by 0.1% as they go from 1.2% market share to 1.1%.

Maruti Suzuki has sold around 24,589 units of the Swift in the Indian market for October 2020. As compared to the same month last year, there was a sale of 19,401 units, hence there is an increase in growth by 27%. With this, the Maruti Suzuki Swift tops the list with the highest selling car model as well.
Sitting right below the Swift in terms of highest sales for a car model is the Maruti Suzuki Baleno. This premium hatchback bags a sales figure of 21,971 units for October 2020. With this, the Baleno has grown by 35% as compared to the 16237 units sold in the same month last year.
Maruti Suzuki has sold about 18,703 units of the Wagon-R last month and it also bags the third place in the overall highest number of car sales. When compared to October 2019, the Indian car manufacturer sold over 14,359 units of the Wagon-R, hence there has been an increase in growth by 30%.
Sitting right below the Wagon-R is the Maruti Suzuki Alto in the highest selling car for October 2020. Last month, Maruti Suzuki sold about 17,850 units of the Alto as compared to 17,903 units which were sold in the same month last year. There has been a very slight decline in sales but it still managed to be one of the top 5 selling hatchbacks in the Indian market.
The Grand i10 is one of the highest selling cars to run out of Hyundai’s stable after the New Creta. Hyundai has sold over 14,003 units of the Grand i10 in October 2020 as compared to 9,873 units which were sold in the same month last year. With this, the sales figure has grown to 42% and it is one of the top 5 selling hatchbacks which are currently dominated by Maruti Suzuki.

At the fifth position in the highest number of car sales for last month is the Maruti Suzuki Dzire. The Indian car manufacturer has sold up to 17,675 units of the Dzire and is one of the best selling sedans this month. But when we compare it with the sales figure for October 2019 there is a decline of 10% with 19,569 units sold.
2. Hyundai Aura / Xcent
The Hyundai Aura is the second best selling sedan from October 2020. Last month, Hyundai sold up to 5577 units which when compared to the same month last year only managed to sell 1388 units. With this, there has been an increase in sales by 302% which has surely helped to increase the market share as well.
3. Honda Amaze
For October 2020, Honda has sold around 4709 units of the Amaze. With this, it has been one of the overall top 25 best selling cars and third in the top-selling sedans for October 2020. When compared to the sales figure from October 2019, the Amaze faces a decline by 8% with 5134 units sold.
4. Honda City
Another best selling sedans comes from the newly launched Honda City. This sedan has sold over 4124 units as compared to 1887 units sold last year in the same month. This makes the New Honda City on of the top 5 best selling sedans and it also achieved an increase in sales by 119%.
In October 2020, Hyundai sold over 2166 units of the New Verna. This makes it one of the top 5 selling sedans from last month. When compared to the sales figure from the same month from last year there has been a slight decline. Hyundai had managed to sell 2174 units of the Verna last year which is very much close to the numbers from last month.

The Hyundai Creta is a top-selling SUV for October 2020. The Korean car manufacturer has sold about 14,023 units of the Creta and it is the best selling car from its stable. As compared to sales figures from October 2019, there is a steady growth of 93%.
Just behind the Hyundai Creta is the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza as it bags the second position in the top 5 best selling SUV for October 2020. The Indian car manufacturer has sold 12,087 units of this compact SUV. Comparing to October 2019, the Vitara Brezza has seen a growth in sales by 18%.
3. KIA Sonet
The new launched Kia Sonet has been loved by the masses and has been selling like hotcakes. Last month, Kia Motors clocked a sales of 11,721 units for the Sonet making it the third best selling SUV for October 2020. With this, Kia Motors is giving a tough competition in the highly competitive compact SUV segment.
4. KIA Seltos
Right after the Sonet, Kia has another best selling SUV, the Seltos. In the month of October 2020, Kia Motors sold around 8900 units of the Seltos. Although it is one of the top 5 selling SUV's, when we compare the sales figures with that of October 2019 there is a decline of 31%.
Hyundai has sold over 8828 units of the Venue last month and with this, it bags the 5th place in the Top 5 best selling SUV's category.
