BS6 Isuzu MU-X 7 Seater SUV Launched at 33.2 lakh - Fortuner & Endeavour Rival
Alongside its best selling D-Max V-Cross, Isuzu yesterday also launched the BS6 version of its MU-X SUV. The MU-X is the SUV version of the D-Max and is a 7-seater flagship product for Isuzu. In BS6 avatar the new MU-X gets a 1.9L Ddi engine much like the pick-up and it makes 163 PS of power and 320Nm of torque at 2000-2500rpm. Isuzu also says that the NVH is lower than the earlier version. You can buy the MU-X in both 4x2 and 4x4 versions with a 6-speed automatic. The 4x4 version has a ‘shift-on-the-fly’ 4x4 select dial. Compared to the pick-up the MU-X is a lot more luxurious and comes in a 7-seater avatar. The MU-X has luxuries like leather seats, adjustable headrests for all seats and a comfortable third row. There is a one touch split/fold seats in both, the second and third row. It also gets 18-inch wheels, a 7-inch touch screen audio system with USB input, DVD, AUX, iPod and Bluetooth connectivity, traction control and other features. Prices for the MU-X SUV are Rs 33.2 lakh starting to Rs 35.9 lakh. There is a lot of competition for the MU-X now with the updated Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and the MG Gloster plus even the Mahindra Alturas- all in this price-range. That means it will not be easy for the MU-X to compete with newer and more modern rivals. The MU-X has the off-road ability and the reliability but the lack of dealers and the lack of features or technology at this price might be a disadvantage. Isuzu could look at bringing the newer generation MU-X on sale in a few markets elsewhere in Asia where the SUV is a lot more modern looking.
