Kia Seltos has more features to fight Hyundai Creta
The Seltos was the king of the SUV segment but now with Hyundai launching its new generation Creta some months back the heat is back on the Seltos. The Creta was launched with a lot of features and some which were more than what was offered on the Seltos. To rectify that Kia has now added more features to the Seltos plus carefully made the other trim levels in the range more value for money with some important feature additions. We take a look.
New Seltos Feature Upgrades
The new Seltos gets an emergency stop signal standard in all trims as a safety feature. Further on there is a smart key remote engine start for automatic variants. The other big news is the addition of the UVO Voice assist where you wake up the car with 'Hello Kia'. There is also a UVO Smart Watch App connectivity plus you can also control the air purifier, get holiday info and also cricket score. In other changes there is an automatic climate control panel silver garnish, dual tone option on sunroof and a new dual tone colour with Orange/White.
Existing Features into Lower Variants
Interior, Exterior & Connectivity Features
The Seltos also gets more features in lower trims sunroof with LED Room lamp now with the HTX and GTX. Rear USB charger for all variants, metal scuff plates, leatherette gear knob, black leatherette interior, front tray USB charger, printed dash garnish and a dual muffler design. All these features are now on lower trims.
Kia Seltos Price and Engine
The engine line-up stays the same with 1.5l petrol plus diesel engines while there is also a 1.4l turbo petrol. There is a DCT gearbox on the 1.4l turbo while the diesel has a torque converter and the petrol 1.5l has a CVT. The price starts from Rs 9.9 lakh for the base trim while the top-end one is priced at Rs 17.3 lakh.
Kia Seltos Vs Hyundai Creta
The Creta in its new generation has changed the segment and it came with lots of features. The upgraded Seltos closes the gap a bit with the enhanced UVO voice commands while the Smart key remote start is a nice feature. The Creta however still gets some extra features like the massive panoramic sunroof plus paddle shifters for the turbo petrol variant and what not. Yes the Selto also has stuff like a heads up display etc. This move by Kia has only made competition between both the Creta and the Seltos more severe plus in the coming months we will know how the sales battle is being fought by these two. However it is clear that these two are currently the best equipped SUVs in this midsize SUV segment from Rs 10-25 lakh.
