KIA Sonet to be Cheaper Than Venue? Starts at Rs 6.5 lakh

KIA Sonet will be new Sub-Compact Rival for Hyundai Venue

Much has been said about the new KIA Sonet including its engines, features and what all would be there in each variant. It is clear that KIA wants to capture a large segment share in the compact SUV space and aggressive pricing is extremely important for that.

Its arch-rival the Hyundai Venue starts at Rs 6.7 lakh and typically it is seen that KIA and Hyundai cars have nearly the same price save for a small difference. For example both the KIA Seltos and Hyundai Creta starting price is roughly Rs 10,000 apart at Rs 9.89 lakh for the Seltos and Rs 9.99 lakh for the Creta.  Thus we think KIA will go aggressive and keep an introductory pricing for the Sonet with its HTE 1.2l petrol being priced at Rs 6.5 lakh. That would make the Sonet cheaper than the Venue. Mind you this would be for a short time with an introductory tag only.

An aggressive starting price is something all car-makers do to get attention and get customers into the showroom. With a price like we think the Sonet would be a big hit. The Seltos has been priced very well and we only expect the same for the Sonet this time. KIA has also put in a long features list and made sure it has pretty much the highest in terms of features or options.
