NEWS : Auto Expo 2020 - Maruti-Suzuki Debuts Futuro-E Electric Concept

With the promise of making India all electric by 2030, a lot of the automakers are looking at the country as a promising EV market. With the introduction of bs6, complications in engines and the rising costs of vehicles because of it, a lot of the automakers will be giving EVs more preference in the near future. And to prove this point, Maruti Suzuki has unveiled an electric vehicle as the very first product in Auto Expo 2020.
Auto Expo, which is currently underway, will emphasize mainly on electric vehicles and green energy. With that, the largest automaker has combined the styling of Sedan with the ruggedness of SUV and paired it with a strong electric motor. The Futuro-E design is one of the main attractions of this auto expo and Maruti-Suzuki is definitely giving people what it promised.
The new Futuro-E Concept will have dimensions similar to that of Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta. Maruti-Suzuki promises that the FUTURO-E Concept will pioneer a new styling language which represents an Indian car with global sensibilities.
How does it look?
Styling quos of Futuro-e involves, a smooth flowing profile, dynamic coupe roofline, large enough rear-seat headroom, expressive sheet metal surfaces, steeply tapering fastback-like rear fascia and newly designed front and rear LED lighting. The new styling quos are completely opposite of that of dull, boring and boxy designs of current Marutis. Maruti-Suzuki always puts a lot of thought in design when it comes to auto expos but the production-spec models receive the similar, repetitive ‘signature’ design Maruti offers. We are hoping that, since the automaker has promised change, it will deliver newer design architecture in the Futuro-E production spec as well.
The interior of the car hosts a futuristic theme styled with, floating concept with different color schemes, mood lighting, swiveling seats and a dashboard containing Human Machine Interaction (HMI) surfaces. These features will most likely not be available in the production version of the car but it sure takes the Maruti-Suzuki showcase of auto exp 2020 to the next-level.
Powertrain
Maruti does not disclose its power train option for the production-spec but the car will most likely receive mild-hybrid tech powered by a BS6 compliant 1.5-liter petrol engine with a 48V tech.
Maruti-Toyota partnership may also yield to a full hybrid petrol engine in future along with a fully electric version that will compete with Tata Nexon electric. The auto expo will be holding a lot of launches of electric as well as futuristic cars. Stay tuned for more updates from auto-expo 2020.
