Maruti Suzuki XL5 Compact MPV Spied, Launching Soon in 2020 - See Spied Image
Maruti is looking for new segments to fill and one of the more important ones is the compact MPV segment. The Renault Triber has been a success and now Maruti wants to launch a new car below the Ertiga and call it the XL5. We have spied the XL5 on the road testing and the car is similar to the Wagon R on which it is based but it looks different if you look closer. It also looks to be styled differently with new headlamps and a new grille. It will also have bigger alloys over the Wagon R. It will also be available in the signature Nexa blue since the XL5 would be sold at the more premium Nexa dealerships. That would be a differentiating factor since the WagonR is sold with the Arena dealerships.
The XL5 would also be better equipped over the Wagon R much like the XL6 is slightly more luxurious over the Ertiga. Expect black interiors and LED lamps plus some extra features. Those extra features would mark out the XL5 over the WagonR. The other advantage could be the third row which Maruti can squeeze in much like Renault has done with the Triber. Despite being under 4m the Triber has three rows and Maruti might do something like this to further make it different from the Ignis which would share showroom space with. The XL5 would come with petrol only and that would be the same Wagon R but unlike the WagonR it would come with the 1.2l petrol only but it would also have manual and AMT options. It might be priced between the Ignis and the WagonR.
