Honda will launch its 2020 City next month around the end of May with May 20th or a later day in the pipeline. The Honda City launch has been delayed due the current Coronavirus situation but with the lockdown meant to be lifted from the 3rd of next month, we can expect the City to have its launch next month end.
The new fifth generation Honda City has quite a few changes done to the India spec version keeping the Indian market in mind. For example the City has more features and a more spacious cabin. The new City at 4.5m plus length is much longer than the current City plus it is wider and has more ground clearance too!
The interiors are also new and more luxurious over the earlier City with a sportier look however unlike the current City, touch AC controls are no longer there due to it being difficult to operate. You get a 8inch touchscreen with all the features plus the City now gets all LED headlamps plus tail-lamps, lane-watch technology from the Civic/CR-V, rear view camera, an electric sunroof, Alexa remote function, tyre pressure monitoring system plus rear ac vents along with the usual features like cruise control etc. It will also have 6 airbags plus a lot of safety equipment with the CVT automatic having more.
It will also have the Honda Connect features, which is the norm while the engine list will be having a line-up of BS6 1.5l petrol and diesel engines with both the engines having the option of a CVT automatic along with the standard manual of course. This would be the first time that the Honda City diesel will have an automatic option. Honda is betting big on the CVT as just like the Amaze, Honda believes it has a segment of diesel automatic customers to cater too.
Worldwide the City has a turbo petrol but in India we expect the current 1.5l petrol engine to be continued as the turbo petrol would be expensive though later a sportier variant could come. With so many changes the new Honda City is expected to be more expensive but we still expect competitive pricing though the top-end could exceed Rs 15 lakh ex-showroom.
We will know more about the new City soon, until then stay tuned to MyNewCar as we bring you the latest updates of this much awaited new midsize sedan!
