A few months ago, the spy pictures of the facelifted Toyota Fortuner were floating all over the internet in which it was performing emission tests in the nation. After which the upcoming SUV was also spotted conducting many test runs. These spy images soon emerged after it was debuted in the Southeast Asian market.
Coming towards the updates, the India-spec 2021 Fortuner will be offered with a facelift and the upgrades will be substantial as compared to the mid-life update for the Innova Crysta. In terms of exterior design, the upcoming Fortuner will be offered with a redesigned front fascia which will include a new grille, sleek-looking headlight units, and a revised front bumper that will get wider air intake and an underbody skid plate. In addition to this, the facelift will come with new cuts and creases across the body gives it that sporty and aggressive look.
Moving towards the side profile, the first thing that will catch your eye is the newly designed 18-inch alloy wheels, the pillars will be blacked out and it will also get wing mirrors and side steps but the overall design remains the same. At the rear, Toyota is offering a redesigned tail lamp setup which will be offered with LED treatment, and between it will be a thick chrome strip with the FORTUNER name engraved on it.
Stepping inside the cabin, you will notice that the interiors will feature several updates in terms of design as well as upgrades to the features list. It is expected that Toyota will be offering the facelift of the Fortuner with a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment unit which will be compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. In addition to this, the upcoming SUV will also be featured with voice recognition, a 4.2-inch MID unit with a new Optitron meter, automatic climate control, wireless charging, a 360-degree camera, ambient light, and many more.
In the International market, Toyota is offering the Fortuner with a powerful version of the 2.8-litre diesel unit. This oil burner will be capable to churn out 204 bhp of power and 500 Nm of torque. As of now, it is not known if the Indian-spec model will be powered by this diesel engine. But Toyota will continue to offer the 2.7-litre petrol engine which produces 166 bhp of power and 245 Nm of torque. Both the petrol and diesel engines will be offered with manual and automatic gearbox options.
