Nissan Magnite First Review, Images, Interior
Nissan India is resting its hopes on its new Magnite which is coming soon. Nissan Magnite is its new compact SUV that would be sold below the Kicks and would be the second car that Nissan would sell in India. There is a lot on the Magnite which Nissan has packed in a lot of features which we will talk about in detail below. This is our first look review of the same.
Nissan Magnite Exterior Review
The Magnite is an attractive design and comes across as a shrunken Kicks but it has more personality. It has a big grille but the slim projector headlamps with LEDs look the best while it has LED turn indicators and also L-shaped DRLs below. You will see cladding and also 16inch alloys which would be standard! The rear end is also impressive as it gives a wide look and gets tail-lamps which stretch out well. You also get skid plates and a big Magnite name written. It also gets the new Nissan logo. Look above and you will find functional roof-rails. The dual tone Magnite looks nice and the paint finish in particular has 4coats and that stands out.
Nissan Magnite Interior Review
Step inside and you will see a black interior with a grey theme. There is some detailing though given in the dash and upholstery. Also some details are kept well like the well finished air-con vents. You have a fully digital 7inch instrument cluster which shows various icons and looks different plus cool too. You can use the steering mounted buttons to change the display but the icons and graphics are nice. The centre console has an 8inch touch-screen while there is also space for a wireless phone charging below. The start/stop button is put below and above it you have round climate control buttons and unique switches. We like the quality of the climate control switches and of the touchscreen but some of the plastics used elsewhere could be better. Space is good and at the back you can sit two comfortable while the third can be an issue. Boot space is 336l.
Features
You get all the smart-phone connectivity features, LED projector headlamps, 6 speaker audio system, a 360 degree camera, cruise control, tyre pressure monitoring system, rear ac vents, dual airbags, traction control, wireless charging as part of the tech pack, hill start assist, air purifier, ambient lighting. Some features are part of the tech pack which you can get with any Magnite variant. A sunroof is missing though.
Nissan Magnite Engine
Standard would be a 1.0 petrol with a manual and it would be the same one found on the Renault Triber. There is however a turbo 1.0 petrol that would have both a manual and a CVT automatic. The ground clearance of the Magnite is 205mm which should be good enough.
Nissan Magnite Launch
It has been widely speculated that due to the current pandemic, Nissan had postponed the launch of the Magnite but it is not true as the Magnite would be launching next month itself. Thus Nissan does not want to waste any time and start sales of the car in the festive season which is crucial for the success of any car. Thus while Nissan showed the concept sometime back the launch of the Magnite would be a month later from the reveal of the production version. October and November would be best time for any car-maker to launch a car due to the highest buyer interest and festive season hence it is right time for Nissan to launch it.
Nissan Magnite Expected Price
After the launch date, the price of the car is the next big thing and that will determine that whether the car would be a hit or a flop in India. The Kicks was not as aggressively priced as expected and did not do well but Nissan will not be making the same mistake with the Magnite. Nissan will go for a much lower starting price with the Magnite. Nissan also has an aggressive localization content level with the Magnite and that will give further ability to price it well. By pricing we mean the Magnite would be much cheaper than the Kia Sonet or other compact SUVs. We expect the Magnite to start from Rs 5.3 lakh and that would make it a lakh cheaper than the Venue or the Sonet.
