Nissan Magnite Launch around Aug 2020, under Rs.6 Lakh
Nissan is betting big on its upcoming subcompact SUV called the Magnite as it has laid out extensive plans for it to be a successful car. Nissan currently only has the Kicks SUV in its portfolio and so the fate of the company lies on the shoulders of the Magnite. However the SUV does look impressive and might be the cheapest compact SUV.
When is it launching?
Nissan has plans to launch the Magnite in a couple of months and while Covid-19 may be delayed some of that, the plans of Nissan is to launch the Magnite well before the festive season.
What would be the price?
No doubt that the price of the Nissan Magnite would decide its success for the Indian market. A bad pricing could ruin a good car and Nissan wants to capture market share thus would price the Magnite well below its rivals and alongside hatchbacks. By that we mean it would be well under Rs 6 lakh and the base version could be Rs Rs 5.5 lakh while top-end versions would be comfortably lower than other SUVs. Thus expect it to be cheaper than the likes of the Hyundai Venue, Maruti Brezza and others.
Nissan Magnite Engines?
This is where things would be different for the Magnite as it would be petrol only with no diesel. Just like the Kicks there would be a petrol range but you would be offered two engines with the base engine being a 1.0 petrol and a 1.0 turbo petrol forming the top-part of the range. Also you would get CVT and manual on the top-end turbo petrol while the 1.0 standard might get an AMT.
Nissan Magnite Features
Despite the aggressive pricing the car would be well equipped and borrow a lot of features from bigger brother Kicks. It will have the 360 degree camera plus climate control, projectors with LED DRLs, a touch-screen, connected features and more!
Nissan Magnite Space and Looks
The Magnite would be marginally smaller than the Kicks being under 4m but it would be spacious enough for its class while the design is more cross-over. As our rendering shows the Magnite would have an aggressive front-end while the sloping rear and side is more like a cross-over plus reminding you of a shrunken Kicks. It is expected to have enough space for four passengers and five would be possible.
What we think
As our render shows the Magnite would be something which could change the fortunes of Nissan while it seems to have done its homework regarding the expected price, looks or even the features. We think it would be well worth checking the Magnite when it lands up in the showrooms around August end or beginning of September 2020.
