Auto expo 2020 has become a platform for EV introductions. This year’s auto expo will witness the presence of a lot more introductory designs as well as futuristic and newer concepts towards green emission tech. The promise of making India all electric by 2030 has taken effect and a lot of the automakers are looking at the country as a promising EV market. With the introduction of BS6, complications in engines and the rising costs of vehicles because of it, a lot of the automakers will be giving EVs more preference in the near future.
After the launch of future-e electric, which was the first vehicle to be introduced this auto expo, Tata has also introduced its long awaited Tata Altroz EV to the general public. The car was first introduced in the 2019 auto expo and even though we were hoping that Altroz EV would make official launch this expo, we regret to inform that it may take a few more years for that to happen. The Altroz EV may make its official debut in 2021.
What does it look like?
Tata Altroz EV is also based on Tata’s ALFA arc platform and its design based on Tata’s IMPACT 2.0 design philosophy. Tata Altroz is also based on the same tech but it does look different from its EV. With newer design quos, Tata Altroz EV will be more on the futuristic side than the standard Altroz. The car was painted in electric blue with sporty design quos.
Altroz EV will be highly based on Tata nexon EV. The car will be powered by Tata’s all-new Ziptron electric power train with a range of 300km on a single charge.
The standard Tata Altroz has received a 5-star safety rating by global NCAP. Since the EV power train will not interfere with its structure and positioning, we expect the Altroz EV to retain the same 5-star rating as the standard Altroz.
The car may be introduced during early-mid 2021 with an expected price tag of Rs. 11-13 lakhs which is almost similar to the Tata Nexon EV. The car will be termed as India’s first premium EV if the launch goes according to the plan. Once launched, the Altroz EV will compete with the likes of Mahindra eKuv100 and Maruti WagonR Electric.
