Tesla Model 3 Electric Car Test Mule Spotted Ahead of Launch in Q1/2022. Tesla India Dealer Showrooms to Open In Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore
A Tesla Model 3 electric car has been seen testing in Pune which indicates that launch preparations are well underway and we can expect the Model 3 to be launched in India by end of this year and will go on sale soon after that by beginning of 2022. Interestingly the model seen on test is the one with the dual motor indicating that it is one of the top-spec models that would be on sale. The test car seen testing was wearing the distinctive blue paint and having the 18-inch aero wheels.
The dual motor means it is the second variant in the Tesla Model 3 range worldwide with more range and faster acceleration. The base variant is the rear wheel drive only single motor version with a claimed range of 448 km on a single charge.
The all wheel drive dual motor Model 3 version is available in 2 trim
1. Long Range trim with an estimated range of 614 km on a single charge and will 0-100 km/h of 4.4 seconds.
2. Performance trim with an estimated range of 567 km on a single charge and will 0-100 km/h of 3.3 seconds.
The Model 3 will be loaded with features and technology like a big 15-inch touch screen, two wireless charging pads and a massive glass roof. Like any Tesla, expect some of the Advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) to come here like the 360° Rear, side and forward-facing cameras, Ultrasonic Sensors to Detects nearby cars, prevents potential collisions and assists with parking. But the auto pilot system will not be made available in India as of now.
Tesla has registered its India office in Bangalore and appointed senior roles in its India leadership team. Tesla has also started searching for commercial properties as large as 20,000-30,000 square feet to open showrooms in three Indian cities. Tesla India will open its first dealer showrooms In Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore before the launch. It will also have a production facility in India. Initially the Model 3 will likely be imported via the completely built unit (CBU) route with pricing to start at around Rs 50 lakhs.
Tesla will also launch the other models in India like the Model X SUV and the Model S Luxury Sedan in 2022-2023. The X would be over Rs 1.5 crore being a flagship SUV while the S is the more expensive luxury electric saloon from Tesla. The other new Tesla being the Tesla Y will not come here any time soon
