Top 10 SUV Revealed at Auto Expo 2020

The start of this year has been a wonderful time for all auto enthusiasts as we saw new models being launched and the most awaited 2020 Auto Expo. In addition to new car and bike launches, the 2020 Auto Expo also showcased new innovations, technologies, auto components and gadgets.
Hence let's start by knowing the top 10 exciting SUV's that were revealed at Auto Expo 2020.
1. Tata Gravitas
Tata has entered this year with a blast, at the 2020 Auto the homegrown Automotive Manufacturer revealed the most awaited Gravitas. This model is a seven seater version Harrier Compact SUV. The Gravitas gets a longer overhang when compared to the Harrier which helps to accommodate the third row. In addition to this, Tata has provided the Gravitas with an upright tail to give a distinct look. Under the hood of the Tata Gravitas will be a 2.0 litre diesel unit which will be able to generate 170 bhp of power. This oil burner will be matted with a six speed manual gearbox and it will also get an option of a six speed automatic transmission as well.
2. Tata Hexa BS6
All this while it was known that Tata Motors was going to shelve down the Hexa and get the Gravitas as it's replacement. But this might have been out on hold, the Indian Manufacturer has still not eliminated it. Tata Motors revealed the BS-6 compliant Hexa, that comes powered with a 2.2 litre Varicor diesel unit. At the expo the BS-6 compliant Hexa was showcased as the Hexa Safari Edition which took the show by a storm.
3. Tata HBX
At the Auto expo, Tata Motors unveiled the HBX Concept which was showcased with knobby tyres and hardcore off-road elements. Upon removing these off-road features what we will get is the production spec model of the HBX Concept. This will be Tata Motors upcoming Micro SUV and it will be the smallest SUV to be built on Tata's new ALFA platform. Tata HBX will be powered with a 1.2 litre petrol engine. We at MyNewCar expect that the production model will feature a roomy cabin with many practical features with a compact design. Tata could launch the HBX production spec at the end of 2020 and upon it's launch it will compete with the Mahindra KUV 100 NXT.
4. Skoda Karoq
Skoda revealed the Karoq at the 2020 Auto Expo and this is the manufacturer's new mid size SUV. The Karoq will be brought into the nation via the CBU route, which means this mid size SUV will see a bump in the price and it will be directly competing with the Jeep Compass. Just like all the models in Skoda’s stable, the Karoq will be powered with a BS-6 compliant petrol engine only. Skoda will be powering the Karoq with a 1.5 litre turbocharged petrol engine that churns out 150 bhp of power. This powerhouse will be matted with a seven speed dual clutch automatic gearbox and the power produced will be sent to the front wheels. The Indian spec Skoda Karoq will be loaded with feature rich features and we will see new big tech savvy features that are offered in the international models as well.
5. Volkswagen Taigun
The German car manufacturer showcased the near-production Concept of the Taiguan and the Vision IN at the Auto Expo. Both these models will be based on the same MQB A0 IN platform. Along with this, the cabin, interiors and features will also be quite similar. However both the midsize SUV’s will be very different when it comes to looks and feel both inside and out. Just like the models from Skoda, Volkswagen will be powering the Taigun with a BS6 complaint 1.5 litre turbocharged TSI petrol engine. We at MyNewCar are expecting that Volkswagen will launch this midsize SUV’s somewhere around 2021.
6. Kia Sonet
Kia Motors has taken a lot of efforts and has gone long lengths to develop the Sonet Compact SUV. Wth this the KiaMotors had given the Sonet a distinctive yet bulky and macho design to differ from its cousin the Hyundai Venue. Just like the Hyundai Venue, the Kia Sonet will be powered with the similar 1.2 petrol, 1.0 turbo-petrol and 1.5 diesel units. But to take the competition one step ahead, Kia will feature a diesel automatic power train. In terms of features and technology a lot of them will be shared from the Kia Seltos such as the 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. We at MyNewCar expect that Kia will be launching the Sonnet in the price range of Rs 7 lakh to Rs 12 lakh Ex-Showroom, India. It is expected that the Kia Sonet will be launched somewhere around August 2020.
7. Hyundai Creta
Hyundai showcased the second generation model of the Creta at the Auto Expo which was most awaited by the buyer in the market. Just like the Chinese spec Hyundai ix25 there are many features and design elements which can be seen on the all new Creta. But the cabin will see different features with a number of changes just like the use of a landscape-oriented touchscreen infotainment. In terms of powertrain, Hyundai will be bringing all three engine options along with the transmission options to the new Creta. We at MyNewCar expect that Hyundai will retail the New Creta somewhere around Rs 10 lakh to Rs 16 lakh Ex-Showroom, India. Bookings have begun with a token amount of Rs 10,000 to Rs 25,000 across dealerships in Mumbai. Delhi and Bangalore. Hyundai will launch the second generation Creta on the 17th of March 2020.
8. Hyundai Tucson Facelift
The New Tucson showcased by Hyundai at the Auto Expo is the facelift version and just as you guessed it hasn't been changed much on the exteriors but the cabin does feature new elements. There is a new dashboard which holds a free standing touch screen and it also gets a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging and electrically powered driver and passenger seat. Under the hood of the new Tucson will be 2.0 litre petrol and diesel engine that is compliant with the BS-6 emission norms. The petrol engine will be matted with the same 6-speed automatic gearbox but the diesel engine will feature an eight speed automatic transmission. Just like its predecessors the new model will also get the all wheel drive system. MyNewCar expects that the Koran manufacturer will launch the facelift of the Tucson somewhere around March 2020 and it will be offered with a higher price tag.
9. Maruti Suzuki S-Cross Petrol
With the new BS-6 emission norms going to come into place in a few weeks, Maruti Suzuki is all set to switch to only petrol powered motors. With this, at the Auto Expo, Maruti Suzuki revealed the 2020 S-Cross petrol version. Under the hood was a K15B 1.5-litre, a four-cylinder petrol unit which is also seen powering the Ciaz and the Ertiga. Coming to the Maruti Suzuki’s mil hybrid SHVS technology it won't be seen on the manual models but the automatic versions will surely get them making it a first in class feature. We expect that the new petrol engine models will undercut the price tags of the diesel engine models and the launch is expected to be somewhere around the month of March 2020.
10. Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza Facelift
Just like the S-Cross, even the Vitara Brezza will be offered with only a petrol engine. This is the first time that the compact SUV will be offered with a petrol engine. With the 1.3 litre diesel engine to be discontinued, it makes way to the BS-6Complaint 1.5 litre petrol engine. The manual gearbox will be standard and it will also get an automatic gearbox along with the SHVS mild hybrid technology. In addition to this, the new model of the Vitara Brezza is being offered with a facelift and new feature additions to the cabin as well. It will be loaded with a new SmartPlay Studio 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The launch of the VitaraBrezza facelift will be around the end Feb or March 2020.
