2022 Toyota Hyryder Electric Car Spy Pictures - Launch Soon
Maruti Wagon-R EV Based Upcoming Toyota Hyryder Electric Car Spy Pictures. Cheaper Than Tigor EV?
The big news is that Toyota and Maruti are cooking something up for the Indian market and that is an EV. Earlier it was thought that Maruti was the one who would be bringing an affordable EV but with Toyota and Maruti making cross badged cars, the next step is actually making the EV sell with a Toyota badge and a new face. That way, the Toyota badge can command a higher price as compared to a Maruti Suzuki badged electric car. That is a smart decision and the electric car in question is rumoured to be called Toyota HYRYDER. This is the Wagon R based Toyota EV and one look reveals that it is a Wagon R with the same shape and the tail-lamps but the front is different with a new set of sleek DRLs and round lamps below. Since being an EV requires no grille, it is a small line which connects the two DRLs. The interiors of the EV would also be different with a digital instrument cluster and maybe different features including EV only graphics and information.
The Toyota HYRYDER is likely to feature a 72 volt electric motor with a 10-25 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The range is a big question but we can expect that the claimed figure will be around 250 km just below the Nexon EV with the real world driving range of around 180km on a single charge. Currently, the cheapest EV in India is the Tigor EV from Rs 12.5 lakh while we expect HYRYDER to be cheaper and possibly starting price at around Rs 10 lakh. That would make the EV more desirable and also sell more. Till now we have seen the Toyota Glanza and the Urban Cruiser but these are merely a change in badge but this time, there are more changes.
The electric car model spotted looks like a production-ready car, which suggests that the HYRYDER is ready for the launch. We expect the electric vehicle to arrive by the end of this year or early next year. Before launching it, Toyota would also have to equip its dealers with chargers. Stay tuned for more.
