Upcoming 3 Row Jeep Compass - Things you must know
According to some media reports, we get to know that Jeep will be launching a 3 row compass in the Indian market. This launch is expected to happen somewhere around the second half of 2021 and it will most likely take place after the debut of the Compass facelift. This three-row SUV has been in speculation for quite some months and it will be showcased world wide in a global premiere in the early year of 2021.
With Jeep planning to launch the facelift of the Compass in early 2021, there will be notable changes on the exterior design and feature updates. These changes may also be seen on the seven seater version as well. The seven seater version of the Compass has been codenamed Jeep Low D and the Jeep 598. In the Brazilian market it will be christened as the Grand Compass. Whether it will be named the same in the India market is not yet known, but we hope to know more about it in the coming months.
What to Expect?
As per some reports, it is known that the seven seater Jeep Compass will only be powered with a diesel engine initially. In the international market, the test mule for the same has been spotted conducting test runs with heavy camouflage. According to those spy shots, the design appears to be similar to it's five seater sibling. In addition to this, it is also expected to have better off-road capabilities and this will help it to differentiate itself from the regular model.
Expected Design and Aesthetics
Jeep will have to make the rear quarter glass much larger and for this it will have to be around 120mm from the D-pillar. This will help to make way for the third and final row for the seven seater Compass. Also, these changes will also lead to design revisions towards the tailgate and we are also expecting a redesigned bumper and tail lamp units.
For the Indian market, Jeep will most likely power this seven seater SUV with the tried and tested 2.0 litre MultiJet ll, four cylinder oil burner. This diesel engine is capable of churning out 170 bhp of power and 350Nm of twist. Also, it will be either coupled with a six-speed manual or the nine speed automatic transmission. In addition to this, Jeep will also offer the AWD system which will be as an option in the trim levels it will be launched in.
Once Jeep launches the three row Compass in the Indian market, it will lock it's horns with MG Hector Plus, the Tata Gravitas and the next generation Mahindra XUV 500. The MG Hector Plus and the Tata Gravitas are scheduled to be launched soon around this year. Whereas, Mahindra plans to bring in the next gen XUV 500 in the early months of 2021.
In addition to this, if Jeep launches the seven seater Compass with a competitive price range it will surely give the Toyota Fortuner, Mahindra Alturas G4, Ford Endeavour and the Isuzu MU-X a run for their money. We at MyNewCar.in expect that Jeep might launch this SUV in the Rs 20 lakh to Rs 27 lakh Ex-Showroom price range.
