Nissan Magnite vs Renault Kiger vs Tata HBX : Comparison
UPCOMING COMPACT SUV'S DETAILED COMPARISON - Nissan Magnite vs Renault Kiger vs Tata HBX
Nissan is all set to unveil its Magnite compact SUV and not only that there are two more compact SUVs of this segment which are coming in your way at the end of this year or early next year in form of the Renault Kiger and the Tata HBX (It is rumoured to be called Tata Timero according to industry reports). So here is an early comparison of what to expect between the three SUVs.
The Magnite would be the first to come and all three compact SUVs have their own family identity put to make them stand out. There is a common design line with LED DRLs, alloys and dual tone exterior while the lines are very aggressive in all. The Magnite borrows from the Nissan Kicks design but adds in more aggression with the LED lamps and has a big grille with edgy headlamps. There are also skid plates and cladding. The Kiger will borrow the Renault design theme with the Triber and new Kwid with a lot more aggression. It will have the DRL and headlamps different and a big grille. The rear too would be radical and would more like a coupe SUV. It certainly is the most interesting of the lot. The HBX would be the smallest here and it would be positioned below the under 4m Nexon but also get the Harrier like headlamps and DRLs being split. It will have a big SUV look at the front while the rear is more crossover like. The Magnite and Kiger would be expected to share the same dimensions while the HBX would be smaller.
Interior and Features Comparison
All three are compact SUVs but would be packed with a good amount of features. All three would have touch screens while we expect the Magnite and Kiger to offer more features since the HBX would be expected to be cheaper. The Magnite and Kiger would be 8inch touch screens while the Kiger would get a floating type one and digital instrument while the Magnite would get cruise control and a 360 degree camera. The HBX would get a smaller touchscreen and part digital instruments while the design would be rugged while different from a Nexon or Altroz. We also expect spacious cabins for all three despite their small size.
Engine and Transmission Comparison
The Magnite is expected to have two petrol motors including a 1.0 turbo and a standard 1.0. There would be a manual and an AMT on the 1.0 base and a CVT on the 1.0 turbo. We expect the Kiger to also have the same 1.0 petrol and 1.0 turbo petrol on offer though it would get an AMT and maybe a CVT Automatic. The HBX would have a 1.2l petrol at the start which also powers the Altroz plus it would be manual only. There would be no diesel offered in any of them.
We expect the HBX to be cheaper than the Kiger and the Magnite with prices starting at Rs 5 lakh with the top variant priced under Rs 10 lakh. The Magnite and Kiger would be more starting at around Rs 5.5 lakh with top variant at around Rs 10 lakh. Thus all three would be a lot more cheaper than any of the current competition or the other SUVs like the Hyundai Venue , Tata Nexon or the Sonet which are a lot more expensive but also are having a lot more features. So the Magnite, Kiger and HBX would make the compact SUV more affordable and certainly worth the wait.
